I've just recently gotten vista, and whenever I talk into my headsets microphone, I can hear myself talking thru the headset/speakers. It records fine, but since I can't seem to find any controls (Vista would appear to have amazingly limited audio controls), I can't fix the playback of my own speech.
So, does anyone know what settings I can use to get rid of this? Help appreciated as always.
BTW I have X-Fi Xtreme Gamer soundcard...if that has any relevance.

I think I have the solution for you. Since we both have Creative sound cards, the control panel should technically be the same. Here is what the mixer panel looks like for me:
Make sure the "Microphone" slider is all the way down, or just muted. That is the volume for microphone playback, which is what you're experiencing. I'm sure common sense can tell you what the other microphone slider on the right does. Hope that helps.
