Why would you rather only the non law abiding citizens have fire-arms?
Personally, I have them because they're "fun".. Sure, they could protect me or my family if needed, but I honestly don't ever expect to be in a scenario which would require that. No, I actually just like to go out to the woods and shoot them. I own three handguns: A S&W 9mm, a Stainless H&K USP 45, and a Sig Sauer P229 Equinox 40 cal.
You can say that there is no point, but unless you've actually done it, I would respond that it's just an ignorant comment. I have an Italian brother-in-law who had never held a handgun in his life. He used to make the same types of comments, ask the same "obvious" questions as to why American's needed to be "cowboys".. However, when he came to the States 2 years ago, we took him out for the day. After that, he was hooked. he had never imagined that shooting at a paper circle on a tree, or a pop can could actually be so much fun.

Uhh... I don't know. That's a really really goo- err fucking stupid question.
Like msgtpain said, he enjoys owning guns for the recreation. Shooting at targets can be stress relief or just a fun sport to you. Shooting at a target doesn't necessarily mean you're going to use a gun outside of range shooting.
Others want to own a gun for protection. They feel more safe knowing that they have a way to fight back if someone attacks. Plus, if people know or think you have a gun, they're less likely to want to attack you. Unless you're suicidal, I'm pretty sure you'll stay away from someone if they're packing heat.
There are people who own guns for the joy of hunting. I don't think I have to explain the reason for that...
Then there are people who own guns for all or a mixture of the three reasons.
Why give up our liberties just because we're "law abiding citizens"? Sure, I'm not planning on building bombs and killing people with them, but I don't want the FBI to know what books I've checked out at the local library. I have no terrorist attacks in the making, but I don't want to have my conversations to be recorded.
I don't want to give up my right to bear arms because I don't have any plans to shoot people unless forced to by having my rights encroached on. I'm a citizen, and I own property. It's my right to protect myself and my property. Once I'm a home owner, you bet that I'll be owning a gun. I want it for safety, and I enjoy guns, so I'll probably use it for recreation.

yea, I know that I wouldn't expect someone to actually be able to write College Level English as a College Senior; especially if they had only been in the country for 16 years...

While on Holiday in the shop with my homie (haha, just a inside joke) I seen the news paper and the main headline was
"Virgina Tech Massacre, 33 DEAD." When I got back to our camper van I put the news on, Then seen more about it.
News paper said; "After being sacked off by his girl friend, He killed his ex-girlfriend then went on to find her boy friend and killed him, Then made the peeps in the classroom stand up against the wall and executed them one by one."
I was like "What the fack! dude read this!" then put the tele on and seen it all, Tho the news on the tv told a different story, His room mates also said he was obsessed with some song, Didn't catch the name, Was a crappy song imo.
32 People, This guy must have been seriously pissed.
Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.

Do you agree with signs being posted in several languages, too?
If he was in the country for 16 years, I don't see why it's such a stretch to think that one should have a good grasp on the language that country speaks. If you saw Cho's videos, you'd see that he didn't struggle speaking English. Personally, I think one would be fluent in the written language before they were with spoken.
