I played halo, and to me it is basically Unreal Tournament 1 with vehicles, reloading and different maps.
Anyway, I know this one game(on PS3) that is very similar to Halo. It is called Resistance: Fall of the Man. However, unlike Halo, RFOM huge maps, more weapon variety, and requires more strategy. It has two races: human and Chimera. Humans can use radar and sprint indefinitely(but can't shoot while running). Chimera can't really use radar much but can go into rage mode(for short time) and during that time, they can run and shoot, see through walls and do more damage.
No vehicles in multiplayer, but they don't make the game any less fun. No on-line multiplayer split screen though.
Other than these things, the game is basically a much better version of halo(minus on-line multiplayer split screen).
