Yo guys...
I'm having problems while playing renegade. Somehow renegade will not work properly. this is my system-configuration:

- ASUS P5P800 mobo
- PIV 3600 dual core (64bit)
- ATI Radeon 9800 PRO
( BIOS Version 008.017D.033.00 )
( Memory size 128MB )
( Core Clock in MHz 378 MHz )
( Memory Clock in MHz 338 MHz )
( Slot: AGP (bus setting AGP 8X)
- 1gig RAM
(hard disk CD-Drive & sound cart etc. don't matter)

Problem:
- Low FPS (about 25 at start map... then when fps drops 2 or 4)
- Weird block which comes through renegade in fullscreenmode, is black or showing the background in a very low FPS rate.
- Renegade terminates, giving error messages after having played for some time (about 20 minutes for example.. but it can be 5 or less too)

If someone may know any solution.. please respond.. I've tried almost everything (updating drivers... renegade-config.. etc.)

some othere sugestions?? i realy want to be able to play normal... (btw renegade was clean installed and runs CP2 <== plus RG and everything else..)

i'll try that.. but anyway.. i'm running 9.0c DirectX version now.. but i've been running multiple directx versions.. (when they were new.. (9.0b for example!)
i'll keep you updated on the progress.. if there are other 'sugestion' please post.. becaus i dont think this is the problem i'm having here..!

I've installed and executed the .exe file.. somehow it seems to improve everthing.. but it didnt solve the problem. folowing some specific details:
Some good results:
- while seeing 'Testing bandwith' i got about 354 FPS.
- Weird retangle block problem is gone!
- game looks acceptable (dont know for error message cuz i haven't played that long today!)
Problems:
Entered a server with the 'Field.mix' map. I spawnd first at AGT. and when i looked at the 354 FPS mark in the top right of my screen.. it fell in about 4 seconds to 2 FPS.. (there was a mamoth tank outside of the AGT fireing at some sniper in the field... but no hard action) then i walkt to the 'tunnel' and my fps went up to lets say 10 - 15 FPS.. but gaming isn't relaxed while having that low FPS.
So someone has another idea?

Start > Run > cmd > dir -s
OT: Start > Run > type msconfig (hit enter after typeing that) > Go to the tab start up > Make sure you know what every program does on that list, If not, Untick it, Also google them to make sure, If you find a program called "outlook" on that list, Go to C:\Program Files\outlook and delete it, Also un-tick it on the start up tab, common virus.
If that didn't help, your graphics card *might* be warn out.
Presence is a curious thing, if you think you need to prove it... you probably never had it in the first place.

yeah i've found the solution to the retangle block.. it was due to Directx 9 without the script.
But low fps is still occuring.. and i've tested multiple games.. and all show low fps.. so i started looking for other problems.. and it seems like my "Intel Pentium 4 64bit DualCore processor" has a heating problem. ( Speedfan sais it's about 95* Celcius...! so i guess i've to buy a new processor )
BTW. the outside monitor of my computer gives only 45 / 50. So i didn't realy notice the heating.. but now i know that the outside monitor is broken too

Dont know actually.. but i'll open the PC's case this weekend.. then we'll find out.. btw.. someone knows wich direction the fan needs to blow? in the direction of the Central Processing Unit? or just away?
[Btw.. i'm thinking of a new fan.. maybe a coolermaster.. someone experience with difrent types of fans?]

It sounds like it might be DirectX playing up. Also, you can always try to Omega Radeon drivers, at least to determine if its a gpu driver problem.
I just checked my directx9.0c file versions and they dont match yours at all - can you run "dxdiag" and tell us what version of d3d8.dll and d3d9.dll you are running (DirectX Files tab)?
Regarding your cooling issue - you should also be able to check this in the BIOS/CMOS setup screen, or at startup as the PC boots. The (stock) fan should be pushing air onto the heatsink - although there is much discussion around which way is better with certain specialist fans.
Also check every other fan- depending on your case you might have intake fans (pushing air from the room into the case) and exhaust fans- pushing air out of the case. Need to check all of these.
Finally, as for other coolers- Coolermaster, ThermalTake or Zalman are a fairly safe bet. Must admit if your stock stuff isn't working it does indicate a problem which may only be slightly masked by better cooling.

Thats way to hot, CPU shouldnt exceed the 62C.
The Intel Pentium 4 Pressler,Presscot have termal slow clock throtteling. Meaning that if the CPU heats up to much it will clock down. In this case its heating up WAY to much so it will clock WAY down. A couple of things though.
Also a temperature in that range is not good for the life age of the CPU so make sure you get it fixed soon.
- The standard stock cooler of Intel should cool enough
- Is The Fan Correctly mounted?
- Not to much Thermal compound on the Proccesor
- Good coolers, but needs little experience to mount
