Okay so just two minutes ago I was on my new computer, and I was using the Internet. The only thing I ever use the Internet for on that computer is updating the system through Windows Upadate. Then Norton pops up and says something like "you computer is being attacked by a rapidly spreading threat." So I check it and it is a virus call "Trojan.Peacomm" and my computer was not protected against it, because Norton's subscription had expired.
Now I have the problem under control, but my question is can this virus travel in flash drives (even If a program has not been accessed on the drive can it spread off of it).

Sure, any device that can store data will hold anything you tell it to, or in this case, anything the attacker tells it to.

There's no need for a format if it is one virus that causes no damage or minor damage. Especially if its a Trojan, most virus scanners do well at picking them up.

Norton will pick it up but it won't do anything.
I Require full performance one my new computer for Renhalo purposes, it was not a full format just a system drivers format.
But on my older computers I will usually take the time to find the virus executable files myself and delete them.

The you open it in a text document and replace the code with your favorite game, so that starts up instead.

And my computer is back up, this one on the other hand appears to have the same virus on it. I wonder where my new computer got it from. Sarcasm

You're annoying as hell. Before hitting the button that you ultimately see as "sibmit ripplai", contemplate to yourself whether you really have something useful to contribute.

As for the problem at hand:
Merovingian is correct I believe. Have you tried using AVG from Grisoft? It's free. Although it may not have helped you in this case unless your autoscan was on, it's still a handy little Virus scanner. On that note, please let me know if anyone has had better experiences with another virus scanner. At the moment AVG is fine, but I like to keep my options open.

I know it may not be what you want to hear but there are some good Anti virus out there for free. AVG has been mentioned, so what about Zone Alarm?

My subscription to Norton was never re-newed because of what has happened with you. Why have an Anti-virus programme if it will not heal a trojan?

AVG and ZA run side by side on my PC and there have been np problems in 3 years.

Try them out, all for the sake of 10 minutes. Big Ups

I find Zone Alarm to be more truble than it's worth.

I have a free version of Kerio and the last version of Sygate around here somewhere.

Avast! is a good antivirus, although you can't leave it to scan all night because if it finds something it needs user input to continue scanning.

Also, if you're behind a NAT or router there is a fair chance that this has spread to other machines through ethernet, weather your systems are networked or not.

What about it? It's not antivirus software.

For antivirus, I like NOD32 and I recommend it.

Ya, but see when I search the Internet and click on sites that are talking about anti viruses, but don't have an anti virus my self, all I am doing is putting my self at risk of getting another one.

SORRY am I missing something? Anti Virus Guard (AVG) and Zone Alarm are NOT antivirus programmes?

ZA has a firewall, program control, anti virus/anti spyware, e-mail protection blah blah blah.

Can you further explain, exactly what you mean as I may have misinterpreted what you mean. Dont Get It

ps. Where can I get a key-gen for Nod 32, I only had the 30 day trial version?
