The point whoever said it was trying ot make was that you can't use the reasoning "he's annoying, so ban him" because there are a lot of people are annoying, so if one person is annoying and gets banned for it, it would only be fair that every annoying person gets banned.

I think that Viking has a very poor set of morals, but he hasn't done anything recently that would justify a ban.
Doe on the otherhand, has nothing to offer but crap, we wouldn't be loosing anything by banning him.

It may seem like the ban hammer shouldn't come this quickly, but the thing is, if you were to ban JohnDoe at some point in time, it would be best to do it now or sometime in the very near future. JohnDoe has had a banning comming for a very long time now, yet he hasn't gotten it yet. Don't think that you're throwing him out all willy nilly either. He's done nothing but troll this forum into oblivion ever since he joined here, and has had nothing to contribute, yet he's still here. It's a good idea to be able to distinguish between times where you need to take effort into investigating why you're banning said person, and when you feel that someone is causing way too much trouble to be allowed to stay for very long. JohnDoe fits into the latter category, if you ask me. Sometimes, a swift kick to the nuts is the only way to get certain internet people to shut up.

That's not true. As I said a few posts ago, Blazer banned him rather recently for his verbal abuse. If you look at his post history, there's a significant stretch of time (I think 30 days) when he did not post.

The main point here is that he got banned for a week, then showed a tiny bit of better behaviour just after he came back (I remember being surprised that he actually stopped being abusive), but then rapidly fell back in his old habits or so it seems.
I won't vote in this topic though, considering it's not a poll started by a moderator.

I do use the ignore function on you, and have done for some time. I used the "reveal" button for this post because I assumed your reply would have something to do with my post.
The only thing with the ignore function is that it makes the forums look a bit untidy for me. Kinda like when a mod moves a topic to another forum, that looks kinda shitty too.
