Yeah, that happens to one of mine sometimes, usually after a short power cut. Unplugging it and plugging it in again a few seconds later usually works, without any need to press the power button while its unplugged.

Well the reason behind hitting the power button is to discharge electricity built up in capacitors. The cause of the trip might be a component on the board and this will ensure that everything is where it needs to be.
