I found this amusing. Apparently the U.S. was holding a shitload of money from freezing Saddams assets and whatnot, so we gave it back to Iraq - in CASH. Yes, paper, cash, bills...FOUR BILLION DOLLARS IN CASH! The money was put onto pallets and flown to Iraq in a cargo plane. It was the largest cash shipment ever made by the federal reserve.
I just have to imagine somewhere in Iraq, there is a group of guys standing in a warehouse, and looming over them are 363 tons of bills, and they are like, "Holy fuck...4 billions dollars...what the hell do we do with all this?"

Well, most of that will end up in alot of private hands, some will go to the terrorists, alot of it will fall into US hands again and the rest will be spent building the shithole that is called Iraq.

Another related subject: Bush has said he'll take money from health insurances for the poorest to put in the war funds. Read it in the newspaper today. What about that?

Diplomats are still supposed to observe the laws of the nation that they're in. But they get a special "diplomatic immunity" in case that they mess up, etc. Because basically it is to prevent another nation from imprisoning the diplomat in an effort to alter the diplomacy. If that makes sense.

unfortunately this is pretty much true, a few years a go a Russian diplomat was driving drunk in toronto, ontario i believe it was. he hit and killed a pedestrian and as far as i have heard there was nothing canada could do about it. they wanted to give him a trial here but russia said no. so he was deported and russian authorities said he would be punished...
prob he wants though.

That's one of the most improbable things I've ever heard... besides the U.S. nuking another country.
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918)
"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect "domestic security." Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent. --U.S. Supreme Court decision (407 U.S. 297 (1972)

Good. The government's job isn't to care for the poor.
Yes, I'm a heartless libertarian, but where is the individualism in America, anymore? Liberties? What are those?
The liberal idea of the "common good" looks an awful lot like Communism.
|
Funny thing is that communism isnt directly a bad this, as long as you dont overdo it, like real communist countries.
In your eyes the Netherlands, sweden norway finland and probably more or less the rest of europe, would be communists.

Actually, that's just one small sample of what I'm talking about in the liberals' idea of the "common good."
The idea of not taking personal responsibility for your actions, and turning to the government when you fuck up, and the idea that private property is a bad thing. Not to mention how government (public) schools purposely prevent their students from learning too much, and how they're indoctrinated so blatantly with this leftist view on how the world works. The idea that equality of outcome somehow is better than personal liberty and equality of opportunity.
It's just an overall attack on individualism. Sorry, but Socialism and Communism just doesn't work. I want my freedoms. I want the ability to choose for myself be it for better or worse. I don't want to end up poor, but if my decisions lead me to that, I still don't want my freedom of choice to be taken away. I'd much rather know that I screwed up rather than know that the government controls my life more than it already does (and it does far too much already).
whoa.

Leave it to private charity, then. Private charity always does it better. Look to the community for support, not your government. As sad as it is for someone to be out of a job and home, it is NOT the government's job to fix the "injustice". Bad things happen to good people, and it's the job of the community to rise up and help their neighbor.
If you leave it to the people, the people will rise to the occasion. Leaving it to the government only creates a black hole for our tax money, does little to help the problem, and gives the people a false sense of progress.
It's time for the people to take responsibility for themselves, their family, and their neighbors. It's about time that the people act like the adults that they are instead of needing to be babysat by the government baby-sitter that we end up paying for ourselves. I don't know about you, but I like being responsible for myself. It gives me a sense of accomplishment.
whoa.
