ok my cp being a pian i start it up and it says <windows root>/system32/hal.dal is missing or corupt and wont start so what do i do i cant see the icons to restore it so what do i do

Press F11 (or maybe its F10) on start up.

it wont work i try to boot it in safe mod but it says same thing do i need the winows xp home edisan disk to reinstall

So you have tried pressing F10 (or F11 it depends on the computer) while it is still on the first screen (some monitors aren't even on at this point yet).

yes it goes to the screen asking how do you whant to star you cp in safemood ect then i click one and it says <windows root>/system32/hal.dal is missing or corupt plese reinstall and i cant see the icons i need to click to do i system restore Angry Angry Angry Angry thats what i get for using acer

Even though you fixed it, a corrupt hal.dll means that your MBR is either missing or corrupted. MBR = Master Boot Record.
