Especially when a large number of scientists are saying that they were pressured by the Government to alter findings.

I think we all know global warming is getting worse every second. So whats the point of repeating it?

But some people don't.

And the American government allegedly pressuring hundreds of scientists to modify their findings to support the idea that Global Warming is a hoax doesn't help.

I'll believe that the world is continuing to warm up in 30 years if it's still an 'issue'. Until then, I won't believe it. I see too much evidence of the earth shifting it's climate from cold to warm. This is nothing new. It's even been documented as far back as Mesopotamia.

However, that doesn't mean I won't support new and better alternatives to fossil fuels and lower emissions because pollution is a serious issue as is evident in California.

whoa.

The United States isn't the only nation to produce chemicals that reduces ozone and is also amongst the most agressive nations to try and combat "Global Climate Change" (cuz its more than just temperature warming). I can appreciate articles on the subject matter, and even calling out any improper government actions. But this article and discussion seems a bit biased in my opinion.

Putting everything even remotely debateable ("Does global warming actually exist?", "If so, is it caused by human interference?", "Is mending our ways for the sake of global warming worth the economic cost?", etc) aside, I pose this question:

"Would taking steps like getting a high MPG car or finding alternate fuel sources have any bad effect on anything at all? Ever?"

The answer is no. While global warming may or may not exist, may or may not be a problem, certainly buying that fancy new Hybrid doesn't do anybody any harm. If not for the environment, do it just to be a better person.

I don't believe in global warming.

I will only believe it if I am provided with provided charts that show average temperature in each year increasing. But yesterday, it was 9* F and last year the lowest was like 20* F (in ny) so I don't really know, and I just have my beliefs in that opinion of mine that it does not exist.

lol, well ... it DOES exist. Sea levels are rising because polar ice is melting ... because ozone levels are low in some areas ... because of man. Everything from an increase in climate temperature over the last few hundred years .... to increased hurricane activity ... to sea levels rising. It is a major issue, no doubt. And it is very real.

its not ozone, ozone just blocks ultraviolet rays. its the infra-red rays we should worry about and nothing blocks them.

global warming happens when greenhouse gasses are released into into the atmospere. some of these gasses also destroy the ozone layer.

People will continue to use environmentally unfriendly technology because it is cheaper. If there was a technology that was cheaper and more environmentally safe, people would use it. Until that happens, "Global Warming" and pollution are still going to be a problem. People just don't want to drop a few bucks more to fix it.

Plus, if we used non-polluting equipment, it will actually be getting hotter at the point we currently are in..

Pollution gets caught in the clouds, and etc. It blocks radiation produced from the sun, actually it makes the earth cooler, but if we continue like this, the heat will be getting worse, and global dimming won't have a great effect anymore.

greenhouse gasses don't block the suns radiation. they block the heat escaping from earth. they still let the radiation in. even if we [b]did[b] use non-polluting equipment we would still go through an ice age. greenhouse gasses just speed up the process. remeber, the earth itself spits out much more than we do. through volcanoes, vents. even some undersea earthquakes or tremurs can release leterally tons of methane.

I'll bring up this argument again, then.

Earth alone polluting the air: Global warming occurs in 10,000 years. (Made up number, just used for effect)

Earth PLUS Humans polluting the air: Global warming occurs in 1,000 years (again, a made up number used for effect)

Simply because "the earth does it too" does not mean we aren't accellerating the process.

The earth is constantly changing in temperature. The earth just went through and ice age, i don't think there is much that we as humans can do to stop this. It's part of nature. A belching volcano will put out more chemicals in the ozone than humans ever will... So go buy that 10-15mpg suv/truck and don't feel guilty!

Actually over here in America, teachers are trying pretty hard to convince all students that global warming is a fact.

But as a side fact, when Mt Saint Hellenes went off it put more greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere, then man kind have in our entire existence.
