This bitch was given five life sentences for involvment in killing a handful of people, including a judge, banker, and police officers, yet they are letting her out on probation after serving only 24 years!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6352903.stm
What the fuck? The entire purpose and point of multiple life sentences, is to make sure that you never get out of prison, and to underscore how serious your crime is.
What sort of deterrent is it to know tha you can go on a killing spree and just get what amounts to a slap on the hand? Yeah 24 years is a "long" time to be in jail, but she was sentenced to FIVE LIFE SENTENCES...she should have never been released.
There are also many instances in the U.S. where people who were convicted of a single murder charge get out after a year or less of time. It's really sad...I guess soon we will be complete pussies and just make people stand in the corner or get their Ipod taken away for killing someone.

actually thats not too bad, here in edmonton (the crime capital of canada) its even more linient than that. in 2 different cases in the last year two school kids were hunted down by a group of teenagers that repeatedly told those two guy that they will kill them, police said they dont believe them. those are 2 different cases with two different gangs. well guess what both of those kids (i call them kids since they were only 16-17 at the time) are now dead. those two gangs killed them in cold blood. the MAXIMUM punishment that was given was only to 1 of those gang members it was a maximum of 4 years in prison. for second degree murder the rest got around 2 years house arrest!! how the fuck can they call it a second degree murder when both of those kids were told they were going to die, then killed! also in the last 6 months there have been over a dozen stabbings all done by underage kids!!! that KNOW they will be out of jail in their mid 20's even if they kill some1 because the justice system is so linient. i say we need a detterrance NOW!! because the youth nowdays already knows they can get away with whatever they want. actually after seeing the Pickton trial i think they need the capital punishment back. and i for one hope that the conservative government instates minimum sentences for certain crimes, just like they promised before elections. seriously this is fucking insane, just the other day i was at a bar and some guy that looked like he was 16 was starting a fight with me just for no reason. i was going to teach him some manners but decided instead to stay at the bar and not get kicked out for fighting. well this "kid" ended up getting into a fight with somebody else and pulled a knife on him and stabbed that other guy multiple times in the stomach, just to think that i would have ended up the same had i fought him scares me.
i think im gonna go buy a gun now. street justice!!!!

thats just insane! good thing they will be judged as adults though. ofcourse that still doesnt mean shit since they might get a few months for assualt or something....
also was the student going to get his ipod back?? and how many times was he warned is also a factor. i mean i would be pretty furious if some teacher was to come up to me and take away my ipod for good with no warning (im sure that isnt the case though) but some ipods can be expensive, especially for a highschool student.

warranto wrote on Mon, 26 February 2007 13:47 | How many times he warned he was going to take it away has no bearing. I'd just counter as to whether or not it was appropriate it possess the ipod at the time, and whether it was reasonable to expect that it would be taken away.
Unless you want to argue temporary insanity, of course.

all im saying is that if the student was atleast once told not to bring it in (which im sure he has been) then there is no fault it in once or ever. and dont get me wrong under no circumstance am i defending the student. all im saying is if the teacher just walked up and took it away from him from good without any prior warning then its not right either. as far as i can remember cd players were allowed back when i was in school so why not ipods?
ofcourse listening to one during class when the teacher was teaching wasnt allowed, but during work periods it was
