Ah the democrats/liberals are at it again. They have extended a $400 per child tax credit to poor families. My take on this... you pay taxes - you get a credit. You don't pay taxes - you don't get a credit. Is it just me or is it a bad idea to give money to people for having kids who should not be having kids because they are poor? Won't that free money inspire them to have more kids putting a bigger burden on our systems?

Please stop the madness!

My take is the the victims of a problem must be treated foremost then the problem's solution must be looked at.

In the state of Minnesota, two years ago, are legislature and governor did the same thing. Every one was mailed a rebate check. $400 per child. They sent one out to everyone no matter if they paid taxes or not. Guess what happened Mr. Liberal..... Our state is in the red over 2 billion dollars. So, after an extra session in the legislature that lasted ten days. Severe cuts were made in the health and human services.
I think I need to spell this out for you nuke. By thinking money is free to give away, the Liberals ended up taking more money away from the people that actually needed it.

Now, on a national level, the same thing will happen I fear. People who really need help won't receive it because we gave it all away to people who don't deserve it. I love the liberal state of mind, identify a problem, complain about it forever, but offer no solution. Then throw money at it until we are broke and then blame the rich.

It's just a complete waste to give tax rebates/refunds to those who don't PAY TAXES. This is stupid. I read about this crap in the newspaper, it compared a woman who only made like 20,000 annually, who didn't have to pay taxes, to a woman who made upwards of $70,000 - $80,000 annually, who does have to pay taxes. The woman who payed taxes got a check for like $800, the woman who doesn't pay taxes didn't get a check. And she's all pissed because she didn't get a check (even though she didn't have to PAY ANYTHING IN THE FIRST PLACE), and others that received a higher sallery get a check (because they have to pay their taxes). It's just plain greed and ignorance. They just want the money, it doesn't matter why she's not getting it or why others are.

it's a quote from Jesus...he was preaching about a worker that hired people at different times of the day...but at the end of the day he paid them all the same. "Dont I have the right to do what I want with my own money? or are you envious because I am generous?"

Liberals dont want anyone to spend money they dont have. if the government cant control their spending...then you cant blame that on the liberals. The bottom line is that the money goes to help keep those kids alive...and we should do everything we can to keep those that are on this earth alive. As Rupublicans, who are typically against abortion, you should respect that.

Nuke in reading your post, some I agree with most I don't. But this statement makes no sense. Also, I take the time to read your post, I wish you would do the same with my post. Which brings up something interesting. It just proves another point about liberals - they always think they are right and do not listen to voices of reason. You called me a republican. Actually, I am a moderate. That means nuke, I am in the middle. I tend to deal with facts and pay attention to historical matters that may repeat themselves. This is why I brought to your attention what has happened in Minnesota. Now, I don't doubt that you want to help children and we would all hate to see them starve, go without health care and all the other bad stuff. In Minnesota, as I stated before, everyone got a rebate check, even the ones who did not pay taxes. Now Nuke pay attention here, I will even bold it for you. Minnesota is 2 billion dollars in the red which resulted in severe cut backs in the health and human services

This means duke, medical care, early education, welfare, wic, foodstamps, and every other program in place to help children took a severe beating. At the time of deciding who should get rebate checks in Minnesota, Liberals insisted that everyone get a check no matter if they paid taxes or not. Now the same thing is happening nationally. It didn't work in Minnesota and I fear it won't work nationally. I hope I am wrong. However, history tends to repeat itself.

Lastly, nuke, I am just wondering, do you pay taxes?

Couldn't have stated it better myself, Joe.

No he does not. He still is living at home with mommy and daddy, living the high school fantasy.

When he buys his first house and pays that first property tax bill, we'll see if he changes his mind.

My family is a poor one, but happy. We utilize many of the programs that are designed to support the poor, but I DO NOT agree with giving to those with no desire to contribute, and who have never worked an honest day in thier lives, with my tax money.

The reason I am poor, is I am taxed to the point of poverty. I deserve a rebate check for paying taxes since I started working at age 16. The loser who lives in a commune and fathers 5 children he doesn't care for, does not. Nor does the mother who abandons her kids every night to go screw a different guy every night, and get beered up.

Kirby...I've been paying taxes since I was 15. granted I dont pay as much and it's not as big a deal as most people...but I do pay taxes since I have an income. nice try smart ass.

as for Minnesota being in the red...I'm expecting the US government to be more responsible with their money and only spend the money they can afford. people that dont pay taxes dont deserve that money...you're absolutely right. there does need to be conditions on this kind of thing...but overall it's still not a bad thing.

as for the liberals/conservatives thing...I am also a moderate. I have more views that are liberal...but alot of their viewpoints piss me off...as well as the fact that they are all pussies in that they will never stand up for themselves.

actually nuke, if you read the newspaper, nationally, this country is further in debt than ever before. Um... giving away money to people who don't pay in will only make it worse. Get ready for the budget axe to fall! Alot of poor people are going to be hit hard because of the liberals nagging to include free money to every body.

the economy is bad because of Enron, the war, and Bush's tax cut. and I said they shouldn't give money to people that dont pay taxes. if you call yourself a moderate...shut the fuck up and stop going on about the goddamn liberals.

The tax cut has nothing to do with it. Since when does cutting taxes make the economy turn into a failure?

When's the last time a war made the economy tank out, pun intended?

Enron would be a good factor, and so would Bill Clinton's forgery and with-holding of documents pertaining to the administration's spending and economy focusing.

Remember that Regan's "Reganomics" and such began the 1990s economy boom - Clinton merely rode on it like Bush Jr. is getting blamed for it. I guarantee that if Gore was in office, no one would blame him for the economy except the working class Americans. Democrats would rush to his defense in an instant and say that he's doing everything he can to promote the economic growth of America.

*sigh
You don't know anything do you Duke?

1. The economy was taking a dive months before Bush was even elected.

2. Enron scandle happened after the economy took a crap. It did not cause the recession.

3. The war didn't cause the recession. It created jobs, and there were more up days on the market during the war than prior to it.

4. Tax cuts boost public spending and helps the regular "Joe/Jane" by putting money in their pockets. Last time I looked, more pocket money = better economy.

You need to get out more. Learn the truth about this thing we call life, and get one for yourself.

Suprisingly, he's 18, although his higher thinking abilities would support the 14 year old theory.

Joe hit it on the head. There are far more things to tax paying than just giving a percentage of your burger king paycheck.

Wait till you are paying 4000 in property taxes, and wondering why 50 % of the children in your school district don't graduate, yet 95 % of that tax money went to local school, who, by the way wants a 12 million dollar addition to house it's failing students in.

If that doesn't piss you off, nothing will.

your only attack on me is that I'm 18...I'm suprised, you guys are slipping...it used to be that I was an 18 year old hippie.

The economy went down for many reasons...but not one of which was clintons fault. The economy didn't go down as a result of war...actually the war helped slow it...but it was still going down. I didn't like Gore...most liberals didn't...and this year I'm probably gonna vote republican because all the liberals running are dipshits and pussies. And dont even get me started on Lieberman Evil or Very Mad oh, and tax cuts in a time of recession are not good economics.

jo...you're talking like a fucking moron...you say you're a moderate...but keep talking about how stupid the fucking liberals are. sounds like a moderate to me

first of all, duke, are you actually paying taxes, or are they taking taxes out of your paycheck which you get back every year?

that aside, i'd like to add my two cents on many issues brought up here, in no particular order.

clinton was partially at fault for the economy downturn since the enron scandal was helped along by him. bush and his whitehouse refused to help enron while clinton's whitehouse did. also, clinton started the anti trust suit against microsoft and a couple other corporations which i don't remember right now. clinton fell to n. korea's blackmail which is hurting the economy right now due to tension created. clinton turned away bin laden who(as you may remember) was responsible for planning the wtc attack. that attack hurt the travel industry and the airlines and caused tension which and also caused billions in extra spending and quite a few bankrupt companies.

reagan's tax cuts were partially responsible for the boom of the nineties because it gave people more money to spend and companies more money to spend on technology. because of that money companies had, they were able to invest in things like computer tech. bill gates is actually the one we should credit with the economic boom, but reagans tax cuts helped companies and individuals to buy into "bill gates' new technology" (yes i know he didn't do it all, but microsoft's products is a good example of what caused the boom )

i completely disagree with giving tax rebates to those who don't pay taxes. when they did the last rebate, there were many people complaining the the poor people didn't get a $600 check like everyone else. the reason they didn't get a check, is because they don't pay taxes so how can you refund something that wasn't paid in the first place?
the tax credit being paid to the poor is nothing but a handout. they already get many handouts... wic, foodstamps, section 8 housing, welfare, medicaid etc. all this is paid for by my tax dollars. now, they want to give $400 more out of my tax dollars. i'm currently paying $4500 per year in property tax(local i know but it still hurts) 7% sales tax, 32% in federal income tax, 6% in state income tax(i think, i don't remember the exact # for sure) gas tax, cigarette and liquor tax, etc. now they want me to hand people who pay no taxes a $400 check! it's ridiculous!

i think it's about time that republicans and democrats would have the balls to stop spending my money on stupid shit!
in my opinion, the following things should NOT be supported by my tax dollars...
endowment for the arts - if an artist is good, he can sell his art. if not, get a real job!
medical research - private companies make all the money yet government pays out billions for the research. if they are gonna pay for this, government should get something in return like free prescriptions for medicaid/medicare patients.
bailout of airlines - again, if government is gonna give out 15 billion, they should get free tickets for gov employees and a guarantee of no more than a certain percentage of layoffs.
nea - this has got to be the biggest farce in government! billions spent on this bloated organization which does nothing to teach our kids. give the money to the states and demand certain testing.
loaning/giving money to any country which does not adopt the basic principles of the us. i'm not saying they have to become the 51st state, i'm simply saying that if their gov officials attend rallies on a regular basis where the american flag is used to light their cigars... they don't deserve a check from us!
that's enough ranting on that subject, i'm sure i'd have more orgs on my hit list if i had time to read the budget this year.

again, i'd like to say that both the liberals and the republicans are at fault right now... liberals want to keep giving handouts to people who won't work and republicans are treating 9/11 as a blank check for everything they want to spend money on.
we need some responsible people in washington to spend money necessary for defense, cut in places where we are spending too much, and have the balls to say no to stupid programs.
