lagging server (low kbps?) [message #243575]

Recruit

Problem: the server lags. Looks likes low kbps.
~ Net Update Rate settings is correct...

Server specs:
CPU: Single Processor Dual Core Xeon 5050 - 3.0 GHz (Dempsey) - 2 x 2MB cache w/ HT
Ram: 2 GB FB-DIMM Registered 533/667
Uplink Port Speeds: 1000 Mbps Public & Private Networks

This should be far enough for a good server i think :S

Does it only lag for you? You might be way to far from the server and that causes lag.

I'v tested it with people from westcoast US/eastcoast/canada/europe/china. all got same problem.

bandwith up=0

it even lags with 10 o.O, but when i host a demo server even 50 runs 100% lagless.

Bandwidth up has nothing do with the server. I don't know why, I just know from my own experiences it has no effect on anything. Are you sure you are getting full 1000Mbps ?

i havent found anything which show it isnt. speedtests go over 100MBps (not bytes but bits)

Well, define "lag"

Is it Server FPS lag? Or Ping lag? Or KBPS lag?

well the kbps goes like 40-70 to 5 and back.. ping sometimes spikes like 0,1 ms

well I would recommend setting the bandwidthup because maybe the bandwidth detection fails. Also try settig the net update reate to 30 in the server.ini and in your client concole (F8 nur 30<enter>).
Also it could be you / yor host having massive packet loss.

It's bandwith usage is 3.2GB so i don't think that will be the problem
