I had a friend from Boy Scouts who was killed in November in Baghdad. He was a medic in the Army and was previously in Korea before he was transferred to Iraq.

What I realized is that you are never going to be sure how safe someone is going to be over there. Nobody I know was expecting him to get shot, but there he was. All there is to do is hope and pray that things will go well. Don't expect that bad things will happen, but be prepared for anything.
