Renguard doesn't run [message #236675]

Hi!

I first want to say that i played Renegade for years, using RG since it came out. Now i did two things:

1. I bought "The First Decade"
2. I bought a new computer.

I installed TFD and first tried to play red alert. I had to install the old "Westwood chat" for this reason.

Then, a few days later, i installed renguard, then started renegade. The renguard window told me "No WOL name found, connecting will probobly fail" and nothing else happened. I closed the window about 10 min later.

I started game2 exe - chose "internet - westwood online" and it told me my version of WOL was not compatible with this game - i had to reinstall.

I reinstalled ONLY westwood shared internet components from my old Renegade - CD.

i tried it again with game2.exe - it worked. Then i started game.exe.

Only a blank window with the title "renguard 1.03" appeared (see attachment) - nothing else happened. I could only close the window with the error message "...is not responsing etc."

I uninstalled, reinstalled etc. Nothing changed.

Can anyone help me with this?

EDIT:

Before anyone asks for that:

- I have read all the other topics
- I have other computers using the same router, RG working fine on them
- Windows firewall is off, AV also etc. etc.
- I followed the right installation procedure concerning the (tm) issue

...not because i wouldn't have read this "other topic" - it's not including a solution, right? Listen

But while writing my edits in the opening post - i remembered that there was some kind of security program pre-installed with my new comp - "G-Data-Internet security".

This one built it's own firewall, port-blocking etc. I turned everything to "off" - and now it works.

Maybe this could be a help for a few ppl. with the same problem.
