First Decade: Incompatible Westwood Online? [message #235760]

I just installed the First Decade version of Renegade, and I'm getting a weird error when I try to use Westwood Online for internet play. It says my installed version of Westwood Online is incompatible, and refuses to do anything. Installing the latest Westwood Chat doesn't help. What do I do?
