It can, you just have to enable it. I don't remember where you can enable it, but System Mechanic has an option that can enable this for you, and there is a API call you can use if you write a small program. You will have to dig deep into MSDN to find it, though.

There is another setting for it, that is always enabled, and cannot be disabled. Sometimes, when I have allot of spyware, and run Ad-Aware, this little window pops up says the computer will be shutdown in 60 seconds. Maybe cause a certain file has been opened up.
And when my PSU failed on my old computer, it gave me a warning that in 5 minutes your computer will shutdown and crash.

i really couldn't help but laugh at that. mabe im completely wrong, but i still find it funny.
windows will shutdown is one of its deamons has been stopped you have a virus attached to one of em and adware need to shutit down to remove it.
also, i dont see how windows could detect a faulty PSU. it has nothing to do with it.
oh, and not many people know how to make any programs to "unlock" their computer.

A faulty PSU can caus alot of problems. Also making your Windows unstable. But I'd say 90% of the users having problems with Windows are just handling it wrong. (using p2p and browsing the wrong sites, illigal software/cracked hey no wonder it gets unstable then.)

How is the chance 0, do you realize how many people use some cheap case with a cheap powersupply in it that says 500watt but it actually delivers the half or less? One of the most important PC parts is actually a powersupply (When it comes to stability) because that it what gives the voltage to all hardware in it if not delivering sufficient making it unstable and giving BSOD and what not.

Your motherboard does not report it as in an error code the only reason youl see it reported is that when it won't boot up anymore or when it inflicted major damage due to insuficient power.
You can however take a look at the hardware monitor in your bios and look up to the voltages that your PSU give. And if it's not within range then you can take a look at it with a fluke meter since the BIOS is not always accurate.

Face it. Windows wouldn't have any of these problems if it wasn't a good operating system. Why do you think almost all the viruses are written for Windows? Because most people use it. If +90% people switched from Windows to Linux, Linux would be in the exact same situation Windows is now.
Point in case; Industrial standard = draws flak.
