what do you do to prevent this?

Also:
I was madly laughing when my enemy repaired his tank - only to get it stolen by SBH Smile

Heal in short bursts, retreat, or call for help.

Of course, you could always load up your tank with remote C4 and detonate them if it's stolen.

or repair in the tiberium (if you're a hotwire/tech, since it's probably pointless if you're an engee) and then watch/hear for any sbhs/people coming (footsteps) or if you do repair outside the tiberium, make sure to look and hear for the sbh. It's a good chance you might not hear them so that's why it's better to just get out and repair for a good 1 to two seconds or something like that - no self respecting sbh would be right next to you waiting to get out because at that point you should normally see them...

lol Someone tried tricking me by putting c4 on a humvee, and setting the humvee in the middle of the field. I looked at the c4 sitting there... and the guy peeking out from behind the rock...
So I killed the guy and took the humvee. Big Grin

Um let's see... you're in somehow what is criticly alive - and ur under the highway of city... You have to repair vehacle to get to the base - or it'll be destroyes - and you won't have much chanses... YOYU need to repair vehacle - because you can die with criticly damaged vehacle

If you do not know when and where to repair, you should not repair. If you do, then at least proceed to know how to properly repair. (ie: don't stand out and repair for longer than 2-3 seconds and avoid even getting out at all if you're just an engineer, [which is why a hotwire/tech is usually important]

Would you get points for killing it? Since it became the enemies vehicle?

In that case, it would be a good idea to drive your vehacle, slightly closer to your base so that the enemy stop shooting at it(if there are other firendly units around).
Get out for like two or three seconds, repair and do the same thing about three times (depending on how criticly your vehacle is damaged) until you have repaired it to at least 4/10 of health, and if that works, retreat back to base either through tiberium(faster, but risky because enemy can see it more easily) or the other way which is slower, but once you get behind the wall, you are mostly safe.

Bottom line is you never ever EVER give the enemy a chance to steal your vehicle. Your better off letting it die then give it your enemy.

*edit* in an apc rush it could be unavoidable if not many team players but that would be the only exception IMO.

I am normally a supporting infantry character, defending the base or sniping soilders to steal tanks, or I am a SBH myself.

When I am in a vehical I will take ti back to ase, have a tech with me, or (on maps like under with rocks the the tiberium) stand on the rock with the tank in the tiberium healing it that way, while i keep moving around so if a sniper is on me they cant lock right away Razz

but normally when I am NOD on Under, I am a sniper hiding on the side behind a rock sniping the engi';s and techs that get out of their vehicals.

Second that one. If the tank gets destroyed then tough, if you die then tough. However the odd second burst of repair is ok and has gotten me out of a few scrapes.

No flashy signature..

in some maps there is a little rock or island in the middle of the tiberium field. if you ask me, drive there, get out(you probably will land in the tib, so circle the vehicle until you get to refuge) and start repairing, occasionally getting in and out to check for snipers and sbhs.
to think, sbhs are supposed to be invisible Sarcasm

3 choices!!!

1) Blow it up, there and then, (use remote C4) allowing your team to purchase another vehicle. (team playing)

2) Jump out and repair in short, sharp 1 second bursts as you retreat. (hoping that an SBh or a sniper doesnt get you)

3) Place timed C4 (they dont count to the mine limit)or remote C4, on the vehicle and repair, again in short bursts. If it gets stolen then blow the remotes, the timed should destroy it regardless.

I am with IWarrior. Dont get out, run like f**k and hope you make it or just keep attacking in the hope that a team member will repair you.

Good point, engy support is pretty vital when you can't just duck back into your base, and it helps a great deal when you're pinned there too.

Noob, n00b, nub, newb, it's all the same to me. Afk people should be shot (really) and kicked. Don't whine that you're going to lose cos you're wasting good shooting time.
