It's not a "true" invisibility cloak, but it's a step toward it!

I heard a rumor that Russia is attempting to visibly cloak planes, but don't quote me on that.

Seriously, don't. Neutral

Found this the other day here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/6064620.stm

It's a pretty cool concept, would be neat if they could adapt it to actually render things invisible to the eye.

Lol, I can only imagine a somewhat slight increase in defense for visibly cloaked aircraft. Missiles don't have eyes...they use radar or track to the heat signature of the plane. The pilot might not be able to see the plane visibly but all he would have to do is look down at his radar screen to see the big blob coming toward him. I can see it now, a Russian stealth fighter takes on a American stealth bomber:
American Pilot looking out of cockpit: I can't see him!
Russian Pilot looking at radar screen: I can't see him!

My thoughts exactly. What would Russian planes with those plasma generators look like on radar?

I'd hope that any aircraft with visual cloaking would also have radar stealth as well.

Supposedly they're working on individual suits for infantry. The gist of it is that they'll have tiny, tiny camera-type things woven into the clothing. It'll take what it sees on one side of the wearer and project it to the other side. So it won't be invisibility per se, but it'll be more like the Predator's cloak.

Man that would be cool, but it would be REALLY cool if it came with a plasma caster, wrist blades, combi stick, smartdisc, net gun, medicomp, and of course... a self-destruct device. Man that would be so cool. Anyway your right, they are trying to make that type of camo, I believe its called active camouflage. I also heard they are working on a type of camo that would change depending on the environment your in, I mean it wouldn't be invisible, but if you were in a forest and you had green camo, then all of a sudden it snowed, your camo would change to fit the environment...meaning a white camo.

That's gotta be expensive. Very deadly though.

How come no pictures of it working? I know it said it was 2d, and that might make it hard to photograph, but something, come on!
