Regarding the "admin access" to the old Westwood forums, I will make this clear. Aircraftkiller was mistaken. I can admit that in a way, I had higher access than most people. I'm sure none of you remember back then, but certain people who I have made peace with were attacking the hell out of my sniper server and I was working with one of the guys at Westwood (Steve Tall) to get the exploit patched. (DOM_TreyD was helping at the time too, as a fellow victim) My work with them on this issue not only earned me a Renegade mousepad and a few t-shirts (which was nice, but I was glad to have my server fixed more), but I also ended up talking to a lot with other employees at Westwood, including Delphi (who got me into the much-coveted Generals beta) and Tim Hempel who worked late and I could call up to get him to k-line these people when they were messing with my server. What I ALSO did was mass email everyone at Westwood that I had contact with when people were spamming the old Renegade Forums. I don't really know which of them was the one who would clean things up, but generally within a couple hours of me contacting them, the spammer would go away (until he changed IPs I guess). So, that's how I had access to admin.

In a related matter, it may have also seemed like we were admins because we used an exploit on that piece of shit UBB to read the raw data of posts, which included their IPs. Later on, we obtained an exploit that allowed you to create posts as someone else. Blazer still has a document with the details, and I'm sure the exploit has been patched, but it involved using the [ code] tag and the doulbe pipe (||) delimiter to append another post onto yours, and you could put any user id in there and the post would look like it came from them. You could even put any source IP in there. I'm quite sure that the person who told us about it told other people about it, because I know we did it once, made a post and deleted it, to see if it worked. You could tell when a post was fake because the one before it always had a [ code] tag in it.

We told Westwood about it, but at that time they were getting ready to shut 'er down and UBB didn't even have a patch for it, so nothing ever came of it.

As for Kholdstare, I started talking to him a few years ago and we found that we had things in common, such as living in the same town but we haven't met because he's afraid my brother will kick his ass. I found out that it ended up being nice when you were a frequent victim of DDoS attacks to have a friend "in the business" as it were. But, to the best of my knowledge, at the time he just had "friends" with botnets who would do favors for him, and I can't prove or disprove whether people disconnected from my server after pissing him off were attacked or exploited or whatever, because he won't even admit anything to ME, I have done the next best thing and made sure he can't use any elevated access through me to retaliate against people who piss him off. (Oh, and since I hate dogs, I'm pretty sure I would never call someone "my" dog, so I don't know where that came from.) You all know how nice and forgiving I am and whatnot, and though I should ban the hell out of him for some of the things he's done, it's difficult for me to do that to a friend. (For reference on that, just look at how much I let Aircraftkiller get away with for the same reason.) And while I may have twisted the truth to some people in private about my friendship with Kholdstare to try and hide the fact that I have an overabundance of kind-heartedness, the truth is that we are friends, no more, no less.

However, if I find out you're not my friend and have been telling half-truths about me behind my back, knowing they'd be used against me in some unholy crusade, then I will ban the hell out of you.

I hope this clears things up. I'm not given the chance to defend myself over on the other side of this, because when I post there, even the most respectable of posts, I get replies with all sorts of insults and the dislike of me that started when I was associated with the retards of WL with the leaders and old-school members of CW has propagated over the years to people who don't even know why they're supposed to dislike me, they just do. It's amazing how badly the truth gets warped when you add years and rumors and hearsay to things, isn't it?

For the record, I have instituted a 7-day ban against the two who continued to attack me after I said it needed to stop. Yes, it's 7 days. If they don't come back after that, it's not because they're still banned. Anyone who's used FUDForum can attest to the fact that there is a field where you type in the number of days and it automagically unbans them at the end of that time.

I'm the bawss.

Ugh, I'm not going to turn this into a religious debate thread, but... it's not eternal suffering for those who question His love, but for those who choose to live a life without God. It's not a punishment, it's just a consequence of choices made during one's life.

whoa.

Oh, and for the record; it is not eternal suffering awaiting those who question God's love, God will forgive anyone who is really sorry for what they've done. However, it is eternal suffering for those who completely turn their back on God (not particularly Atheists, I mean people who hate God and do evil things, not people who don't believe in him.).
Then again, according to the Bible, eternal suffering and hell aren't firey pits of doom, they are just watching everyone else go to heaven and be happy for ever before you die, physically and spiritually. Big Grin

I don't think Crimson will or is getting any backing from EA anymore (seeing as how clanwars is getting prizes sponsored by them), so what's the point in denying and changing the story all the time? How did this start anyway?

Here you are saying its gone on for long enough, which is what Spoony informed you all about and in return you ban him and back up the accused. Good job.

and help-linux: DDOS stands for Distributed Deniel Of Service

Quote:

- On the Internet, a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack is one in which a multitude of compromised systems attack a single target, thereby causing denial of service for users of the targeted system. The flood of incoming messages to the target system essentially forces it to shut down, thereby denying service to the system to legitimate users.
A hacker (or, if you prefer, cracker) begins a DDoS attack by exploiting a vulnerability in one computer system and making it the DDoS "master." It is from the master system that the intruder identifies and communicates with other systems that can be compromised. The intruder loads cracking tools available on the Internet on multiple -- sometimes thousands of -- compromised systems. With a single command, the intruder instructs the controlled machines to launch one of many flood attacks against a specified target. The inundation of packets to the target causes a denial of service.

While the press tends to focus on the target of DDoS attacks as the victim, in reality there are many victims in a DDoS attack -- the final target and as well the systems controlled by the intruder.

all i had to do was look in google. i keep forgetting to look.
