Laughing out loud. It sucks when that happens, but really...

You need more seh-cu-rity. It's the only way to win. :/

Actualy, back in the days when GenEdit2k (site) was still alive (around the time when Generals was announced) i hosted one of the *Tech Center* forums (dont remember if it was TD or RA) along with my mod's forum.

I can remember that my forum got hacked real bad and the Tech Center Moved.
Ever since the move, the tech center has been a constant script kiddy victim.

All because of crappy IPB securityholes. That is why i prefer phpBB (even thought its anti-spambot protection sucks).

A good forum to use is SMF, it's free like phpBB, has a lot of great features and is fairly new so there are few hacks / spambots etc around for it. Also the team behind it are quick to release patches to fix any security bugs from what I have seen.

The homepage for it is http://www.simplemachines.org/

I will admit we are still using phpBB at lmsbc, but its simply because switching it over is too much like hard work, and I would have to re-add my forum modifications, but if your starting a new forum I recommend trying it out. It's always been stable when I have tested it locally, and the new ApocRising site is going to be using it.

FUDForum is the most secure forum out there. phpBB is a JOKE in the PHP developers' community. FUDForum is coded by a guy named Ilia Alshanetsky. He is on the PHP team (as in, the people who create and improve the language), AND he wrote a book on PHP security. He always responds to questions on his forum within 24 hours, and if you're reporting a bug, he usually fixes it and provides you a way to get the update immediately.

FUDForum also includes a powerful API which makes it easy to integrate into other sites. (Just look at http://www.jelly-server.com/nuke/modules.php?name=FUDForums -- they integrated it into Nuke)

I forgot to mention -- Every other hour, on the hour, when the forum hangs, it's because the database is locked for backups. So if we are hacked, at the worst case scenario we lose less than 2 hours worth of posts. If you remember, back when we were on phpBB, we were hacked and all posts deleted, but my backups saved the day.
