Try looking at all the other install problems posts in this forum first, then tell us which ones you've tried and why they didn't work. After that, I'm sure people will have more suggestions.

I found another installer at one stage that didn't have all the fancy graphics. I think it may even have been on one of the Renegade CDs. I'll check when I get home from work, but you may be able to find it in the meantime. Post the location here if you do.

I have this exact same problem with an extremely fast and up to date computer. I currently operate on Windows XP Home. I have tried both of the recommended downloads and neither work. The first one says there is an error and the second one loads up a blank screen and then cuts back to the desktop. I have been a long term user of the game on the same system while i was on Windows ME but as soon as i installed XP i have been unable to re-install Renegade. If anyone has any other suggestions I am willing to try anything. Thanks.

This be basic but I will throw out a suggestion.
XP uses a heck of a lot ram, more so than ME. I had problems with a 512mb stick of ram that when I replaced it the game stopped crashing to desktop (ctd). Apparently there was something wrong in the upper reaches of the stick.
Can you try using a different stick and then try it? Swap it out and give it go.
An idea,

Yeah that is a very good point. It always worked on my older CD drive. I will give it a try and tell you if it works. Cheers.

They probably won't verify your screen name. You'll never get an email. Just play with it anyway.
