What makes her different is she knows people and how to get things done. I don't know anyone from EA. She runs the community, she knows what everyones trying to do. She also has the drive and give-a-damn that allows her to actually host servers and run a forum. I couldn't do any of this because:

A. I don't have any money at all, I'm poor and I couldn't afford 1000$ plus a month on bandwidth for community sites and servers.
B. I don't have the drive, I would just sit back and say it's too bad theres no community anymore... I wouldn't go create one.
C. I can't deal with people. No I don't mean "ZOMG A PERSON AHHHH" I mean that I can't make people work. Someone attacked the community and I'd keep giving them second and third and fourth chances because I'm too nice and feel guilty about everything.

That's what makes her different, and what has allowed this community to even exist. People like her have to be in charge and people like me have to post pictures of subwoofers in General Discussion.

I've always trusted Crimson and I still do. Just as Doitle said I know she'll get things done. The way I see the community now is still better than the way things were--or might have been without her (nonexistent).

In my opinion, XWIS is not solution, we need clan support, individual rankings and so on. Do we have that?
No, just a server listing.

Gamespy does that. Might as well just shut down XWIS if its only going to do that.

I can see why everyone is frustrated..we have been hearing about Renguard 1.04 for bloody ages now and seen nothing, a lot of servers no longer look for RG as proof of non-cheating etc. They just ban you.

We need solutions, and quickly. Renegade is dying on its feet and i'm sick of finding clans to play nowadays.(Would rather just look at a ladder than trawling through one site to find another to challenge people. Lazy i know.)

I feel that judging the people you mentioned because they are "script kiddies" is a bit harsh. Silient Kane & V00d00 are both into some seriously dodgy shit and it doesn't seem to bother BHS.

Other then that I'm with Crimson Thumbs Up

Clanwars.cc currently has better clan support for Renegade than anything XWIS or BHS could ever hope to create... not that I've seen any signs of them trying to in the last year or so.

EDIT: this is, of course, replying to Acey#GW, not Reborn.

I seriously doubt that because Clanwars.cc cant be access by any Westwood game client. Rendering it just a third party ladder, no different than any other game ladder.

I know, i'm on there. Blush

But i was just commenting on how little action XWIS has taken on rankings etc.

The individual rankings were up again for a while, then went down again. pointless.

Lay off crimson, I have seen what she has been doing

Don't expect her to sit on a computer 24 hours a day just for you...

People does have a life like crimson and I

I don't give a fucking fuck what you think

Crimson stood around Renegade for years she even lost money against me by phoning westwood studios to get me off the server as I was fucking around with her server back in the days

Plus all that time she putted onto n00bstories which made crimson the way she is now owning pretty much all of Renegade

Crimson is the queen of Renegade now you guys just fuck off and BOW to her

I just ask for moderation and a little hint as to know what else is in development. I have no other real problems with Crimson running the community. She's done far more than EA ever did, and is doing a Hell of a lot more than XWIS is.

From August 2005:
Quote:

<Crimson> yeah... we've cracked woldata.key and the renrem protocol

Can I prove that she holds out on you guys any more clearly?
Or do you want the logs to prove everything.

Both of these things are evident and not hidden. BRenBot has used a native implementation of the renrem protocol for quite a while, and v00d00 released a small app to fix your serial storage for TFD players using his knowledge (I believe Scorp and SK were the first to crack woldata.key). We didn't hide this from you.

Next, do NOT post private conversations. After that conversation, I exchanged some emails with Olaf and DonCarlo and found out that my previous knowledge of them was flawed. I now stand corrected. They have done nothing to make me feel that we can't trust them. While I do still contend that they don't care as much about Renegade as the other games, having BHS being administrators for the Renegade section of their servers is a great compromise that has worked very well.

I'm VERY sorry that I can't share what we're working on with EA. I wish I could show you all the emails exchanged with stuff we're working on. There is a person there who is paid specifically to care about the older C&C games and with TFD out, it opens budget dollars to support these older games.

Next, if someone would propose a full solution to "clean up" these forums, I am ALWAYS all ears. Power abuse is always my primary concern and very few people, it seems, can have such power and wield it properly. I am not generally a fan of ostracizing a community member just because they are sometimes dumb.

RenegadeCommunity.com is not an idea I jumped on like it was the best idea in the world. If I indeed thought it was such a great idea, I would have done a lot of the work myself. However, I did think it was a decent idea and one I would be glad to host. I have let Renardin do most of the work. I'm pretty sure at this point there are a LOT of pages not even close to done so anything you want to say about the site is probably true because it's NOT finished.

You know, I really wish that we could tell you everything that's going on with RG 1.04 as well. The problem is, the cheaters are everywhere, and if you follow all the cheater forums like we do, you would see that any time we post anything about RenGuard, it appears over there within an hour. Our responsibility is to keep cheaters out of the servers that have trusted us to do so, and at this point our best option is not to release any information about what's going on. Remember, I run a server and I play almost every day. I see cheaters all the time. I'm not going to forget about them.

I find it quite hypocritical that "null" is complaining that I don't have any/enough "staff" to do anything and then complains because so many of the people who have been replying are "staff" of some kind.

As it has been mentioned several times, I do have a life. I do spend quite a bit of time with assorted community-related matters but mostly I have to prioritize and compromise. Yes, maybe we all would have liked to see BHS run WOL, and in fact I had sent a long proposal to EA about us helping them fix bugs in WOL and help keep it in line, but they replied and told me that they were in the process of transitioning it to Olaf. We talked about several options in BHS and even offered to "try out" as an alternative option, but in the end we decided that our software wasn't ready to be mainstream in a quick enough amount of time compared to Olaf's software which was already stress-tested and in operation for a while, so we compromised and were given the ability to help run it. To date, we have placed over 40 bans on floodbots and lobby spammers. Having BHS make a WOL clone would use the resources of people whose time is better served towards RenGuard improvements. Once v00d00 is done with finals, I will find out where his current work stands (he was working on a lot of neat stuff right before finals) and what is safe to tell you guys (and essentially, the cheaters). At that time, I will let you know what he's been working on.

There have been and always will be people who will try to smear my reputation, but in the end, the truth will prevail. I have too much pride to give up on anything I promise, so I am generally careful not to promise things if we can't deliver.

Thanks again to all of you who support us and stand by us. Most of you know my door is always open and you are free to contact me by forum PM, email, or IRC msg if you have any concerns or ideas.

Most of the complaints about a ban anymore is because of ban evasion. I wouldn't support the banning of Sensitive if it wasn't painfully obvious that he has ban evaded and is being allowed to do so. Usually, ban evasion is an automatic permanent ban, and that's where most of this ban Sensitive is coming from. As for the rest of the forums, there is no "Off Topic" forum, which I think would cut down on a lot of spam. All we have is the "General Discussion" which, as the description points out, is for "General discussion of Command & Conquer Renegade". If we could get an Off Topic forum, I imagine that would help out a little.

Fine then if you're so great why dont you do this

a) Tell EA that XWIS needs a CLEAR and definate website that explains to the common, off the shelf WOL user what XWIS is.
b) Eliminate the difference between Striketeam and XWIS.
c) Eliminate Striketeam's tacky and pathetic popup ads.
d) Consolidate BHS and striketeam.

Why the fuck would she do that?

a) It's not her responsibility for what EA requires of Olaf and Strike-Team.
b) That's not her place to do that... she doesn't control either.
c) That's Strike-Team's issues, not hers. It's not even hosted by her.
d) BHS is strictly for Renegade. Merging would only cause issues. They should be allowed to operate separately. It'd be pointless for the two to join together.

I don't appreciate ads on their site, either, but there's nothing I can do about it. I don't see what a merger would accomplish. We have very different goals and focuses, so I don't see any advantages to even proposing such a thing.
