Remember, it's GDI, not gdi.
Never knew GDI means "global defence initiation but Nod?"? I always thourght it meant "Global Defence Initiative"
The letters "NOD" means it is an acronym like it should be "N.O.D", but, "NOD" doesn't mean anything therefore it is not an acronym and is not spelt "NOD", it is spelt "Nod". Nod doesn't have the capital "O" and "D" which makes it a word, not an acronym.

You fail to notice that everything else on that bookcover is capitalized as well, and it's a title on a bookcover, where things are very often written in allcaps, rendering the point moot.
The Land of Nod is a place mentioned in Genesis. Wikipedia for the win: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_of_Nod

Genesis 4 | 15. And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. 16. And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

They also used the Second Verse in Red Alert at the end of the Soviet campaign. So that confirms they meant that to be used as the spelling.

I think it is kind of strange that they decided to change "Cain" to "Kane." I guess it must look cooler or something. Meh.

I guess it's because names differ from time and place.
Take my name:
Now a days, in the Netherlands it's: Willem
in Englisch it would be: William
Back in history it would be: Wilhelmus
Size doesn't matter.
