I have installed renguard for the 2nd time after getting banned from one of my preferred servers because so many people thought I cheated 5 days ago. Now, after renguard refused to work by not allowing me to maximize it so I could press the "renegade" button, I un-installed it.
Un-installing it deleted a critical file in renegade, so renegade would not work.
I reinstalled renguard again, and it then said I had a "CNR version error".
I un installed renguard again, and then un installed Renegade.
I am not trying to reinstall renegade, but when it reaches 49% it gives me an error message saying it could not detect the "game CD".
The game CD was already in, so I took it out, and put it back in. Same message.
Took it out again, and put in the Data disc "Disc 2". Same error.
So now, renegade is broken altogether. Can't even do as much as single player.
I have been playing Renegade since 2002, well before anything like Final Renegade or Renguard was even thought of, and it has always worked before this.
So, WTF is wrong with my renegade copy?

IOr the disc is broken, or the drive is broken. With a bit of luck, you might be able to get it to work if you keep trying. Otherwise try to find a friend's discs to install, install with YOUR serial and then you can play again (maybe even use a no-cd patch, very handy to be sure your play disc stays alife).
