Well, Ive been looking for a "box" and ive found teh one i want.
Only im not sure it will support (be good enough) for my needs...

This is it.

SERVER:
Pentium4 3.0

DISK SPACE:
1 X 80 GB SATA

RAM:
1 GB

BANDWIDTH:
1500 GB

Would this be good enough to host like 3 renegade servers, An TS Server, And about 2 IRC Bots?
If not i can upgrade to an P4 3.2 or P4 3.4 for $20 more

Please i need some opinions

Depends on the number of players you want but I can most definately tell you this won't be enough normally.

If you don't have a double cpu, I wouldn't host more than one server anyway. Renegade (and its regulators) is very cpu hungry. Also two instances of 10 player servers will need more cpu than one instance of 20 players.

So yeah, CPU power is the problem. Bandwith shouldn't be a problem unless you get as popular as the n00bstories server Razz.

I was looking here
https://order.1and1.com/xml/order/Server;jsessionid=D56A34CD 3B70BDBCB220F5946814022A.TC61a?__frame=_top&__lf=Order-T ariff

And from what people tell me. This is a good spot to host...
Only I dont know which to get. The 1st one says i get root access while the last (windows) one says i get admin.

You need a Windows server to host on WOL/Xwis (until Blazer releases his linux xwis FDS ofcourse). It's also much easier as you don't need to know Linux commands.

Looking at those prices, they may not be the cheapest. Check with other server owners.

And as I said: don't expect to run too many things at the same time. You always think you can run more than you actually can (without lag).

Im not too worried about the money involved in this....

Ive been looking at this

Intel Pentium 4
3.06 GHz Hyper-Threaded
2,048 MB DDR RAM
120 GB IDE hard drive
1,500 GB monthly transfer volume

Do you think this could handle the job of hosting about 4-5 servers.

Here is the link. Im getting the last one.

https://order.1and1.com/xml/order/ServerWindows;jsessionid=3 3E67F1C80039F9193DA304D23DC6DD8.TC60a

I had one already only it wasnt gonna meet the requirements that i was expected to meet (hosting too many servs)

As I said: depends on the number of players. To be sure you should only put one server (with regulator) per cpu.

Ok lets say:

4 servers
All have max of 20players
And they are all half full.

Based on:
Intel Pentium 4
3.06 GHz Hyper-Threaded
2,048 MB DDR RAM
120 GB IDE hard drive
1,500 GB monthly transfer volume
100 Mbit Connection

If the box cant handle it. I was hoping to get:

Intel Pentium D 950 Processor
2GB RAM
250GB HDD
1500GB Bandwidth
10Mbps

Dual 2.4GHz Xeon Processors
1GB RAM
2 x 80GB HDDs
1500GB Bandwidth
10Mbps

But. Which one of these two is better?

The second one is better for hosting a renegade server.
The FDS needs much CPU.

When people ask me "Plz" just because it's shorter than "Please" I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because it's shorter then "Yes"

I dont know which 1 is better, but if you're gonna host more than 1 FDS i think it is wise to makesure yuou've got 100MBit connection instead of 10. On my home connection I can host for really really max 16 ppl at 1 serv, with 1mbit, and I did say that shouldnt be the main cost , so to make sure it is lag free I did say get 100MBIT especially is you plan on running TS and stuff.

The second one is better for hosting a renegade server.
The FDS needs much CPU.

Are those single- or dual-core Xeons?
If single-, the dual-core PD 3.4 ghz is probably better.

Only I dont know which to get. The 1st one says i get root access while the last (windows) one says i get admin.

It's actually (effectivly) the same thing. Root means a user with full access on Linux, Admin is the windows term for... well.. admin Thumbs Up
