i have made skins for renegade using photoshop version 7. Whenever i play they turn black and i know its because im saving it wrong. Ive read several tutorials and they said different ways to save it. All of them have turned my skin black. What is the correct way to save my skin? Again i am using photoshop 7.0 and NVIDIA dds format (v3.02).

Shouldn't this be in the Mod forum?
Oh well, anyway, just try the first 3 or 4 options (No alpha DXT1, Alpha DXT1 etc. or something along those lines). I can't remember which one it is, but if you save one version, try it, if it doesn't work, save it in the next version.
