That rules out XP Home. HTGunny and ~-ALERT-~ were having a similar problem, as you can read about in this thread: http://www.renegadeforums.com/index.php?t=msg&th=19773&a mp;a mp;a mp;a mp;start=0&rid=4243
HTGunny never sent me the information I requested, but ~-ALERT-~ did. I was not able to solve his issue based on the information he sent me, which was only an AppCompat.txt file. AppCompat.txt files contain very little helpful information (only what DLLs you have, and what versions).
Could you send me more information regarding the crash?
Specifically I'll need the information outlined in blue and the files outlined in green (which are pointed to by the red arrows), as per this example (even if it's just the AppCompat.txt again, since yours could be different):
Please do not attach them to this thread (especially not *.mdump or *.hdump) as they could contain some private information from you. You may PM them to me through the forums. If they are too large to be sent through a PM, let me know and we'll discuss alternate ways of sending the files.
Also, please describe to me the exact way you're launching RenGuard. Are you just double-clicking the Renegade icon? Are you using GSA or ASE or some other +connect-enabled software? Or is there something else?

The both of you do not have CorePatch 1 or 2 installed. Both of you also have an Athlon 64. It's probably some weird issue with your Athlon 64 (especially if HTGunny also has one).
Try downloading and installing CorePatch 1 through the standalone installer: http://download.renguard.com/standalone_cp1.zip
In the worst case, it won't solve anything. In the best case, it'll have a fix for your issues. If you feel like you may have some trouble installing CorePatch 1, feel free to make a backup of your current Renegade directory before trying to install.

This is still v3 btw but thats my brothers account and i dont know his password. But anyways, will try installing CP1 or 2, I know its nothing to do with the Athlon 64 because i also cant get renguard to work on my old pentium chip computer.
I'll let you know how i get on a little later when im back from work.

Okay, so it's my understanding that all of you have an Athlon 64 with Windows XP (normal 32-bit edition). In addition, most (if not again, all?) have had RenGuard working previously. My guess is that Microsoft probably posted a patch for kernel32.dll recently which broke something. Without an Athlon 64 myself, it would be extremely difficult for me to track this down.
Something that could be done (it would most likely need to be done on a separate machine, or at least a separate Windows XP installation) would be to install the base Windows XP with Service Pack 2. Then install all of the updates until about two months ago. Then, add all updates since then one by one until RenGuard no longer works. It may be ideal to focus on updates to kernel32.dll, but in fact it could be some other DLL raising an unhandled exception (kernel32!0x1eb33 is within kernel32.RaiseException()).
Again, I do not have an Athlon 64, so I cannot do this myself.

I have recently developed this exact same problem! And it happened after that last Windows Critical Update where it puts something on your machine to see if your copy of Windows XP is "authentic" or not... Coinsidence? Maybe. I dunno. What really gets me is that they give you a "TXT" file that's actually not a TXT file...but an XML file, so I can't copy and paste everything the damned error report says... Freakin' Hell...
Anyway, here's my specs:Quote: | Manufacturer: Micro-Star International MS-6380E(v1.3) ATX Mainboard
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz
Memory: 768MB SDRAM(Possibly curropt.)
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE
Monitor: ViewSonic E70-10
Sound Card: SoundBlaster Live! v5.1
Speakers/Headphones: Multimedia Speaker System(Generic)/Coby CV-H42 Headphones
Keyboard: Logitech Wireless Desktop Keyboard
Mouse: Microsoft PS/2 Port Mouse (IntelliPoint)
Mouse Surface: Generic Mousepad
Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519)

So...M$ broke RenGuard for certain XP users! Pathetic. Absolutely Pathetic on M$'s part. BHS shouldn't have to put up with crap like this. P.S. it's been a while since the last update, how's RG 1.04 coming?
