While installing the FDS, when it prompts you to enter a serial, you can enter any combination of numbers that is 22 characters long, and starts with 0669!
However, serial validation is active on XWIS. So you will need to:
-Complete the first step.
-Open server.ini
-Replace the serial with any valid serial.
XWIS does not know the difference between client and server serials. Only the original Westwood installers do. So you can use your client serial as server serial.
XWIS does not scan for duplicate serial usages. A single serial may be used for more than one server. Use caution however, if the serial is banned, none of the servers using it will be able to connect until a new serial is used.

This is what I did:
Use a 0669 key to INSTALL the FDS, since it is bound to the 0669 keys.
Open your server.ini file, edit the Serial to my Renegade Serial number.
Then I was able to create my server fine. If you cannot create the game channel still, ensure your username and password are correct.

-_- yeah but XWIS does check for valid serials and they DO ban u if its used for more then just 1 computer go to there forums and finde it

How are people who want to run their own server going to obtain
a valid serial without the request serial thing working ?
Not just for Renegade but also for APB or any other Mod that was
released for Renegade.
Are the serials still limited to like 9 nicknames? If yes, then
it is nearly impossible to create new servers on XWIS for Renegade
or any mod based on it....
I still have maybe 10 valid fds serials that are unused.
But unless they are nickname count unlimited it is
useless to even include it with the fds installer..

When it asks for the serial given to you by westwood enter the code xxxxxxxxxxx it is a special bypass code given to the renegade community server owners.

It was not a real serial it was a fake one with just the 0669 in front of it.
