I would appreciate some feedback on these two layouts.

I did the current default one today, and It's growing on me more than I expected. I would appreciate it if people would answer:
1. Which looks best at first glance
2. Does that opinion change as you browse
3. If neither layout appeals, what would you prefer? Minimalist? Web 2.0? Curvy boxes?
(This site is still being developed, it is rather sparse, the only real part I have going is the news.)
- Note, the domain name has no reference to 'Crimson' on these forums, Crimson Fire is a nickname I use outside the Renegade community, for obvious reasons I changed to lightaura, then light when I started playing Renegade.
