lol, thats exactly what i got too

wow...some people need a point to thier existance..
If thats what you call a good birthday, 99.9% chance you were raised by crack addicts (according to the last 2 things..)

I think you completely miss the point of my (and his) post. We never stated that it was a "good birthday". Also, if you note, when you turn 18 in the U.S., you are no longer a "minor". You can now vote, join the military, buy tobacco, buy pornos, and be the "guardian" of minors under the age of 18 for rated-R movies. Every person who turns 18 in the U.S. has the same priveledges, so unless 99.9% of Americans who turn 18 are raised by crack addicts, you've completely misunderstood my and his post.

|
If you look at these benchmarks, you'll see that (ironically) many of the benchmarks have regular DDR memory around the speed of the fastest DDR2 memory.
|
I don't know a lot about DDR2 mostly because it used to only be compatible with Intel CPUs, but I don't think you really can expect a difference in games. You probably get better results with other things besides games, either that or AMD CPUs don't really use DDR2 any more than DDR 400 at the moment.

Just get AM2 so you don't have to get a new motherboard and new memory in the future (they're ending support for S(socket)939 sooner than for S(socket)754 (which will/should be the only DDR(1) AMD solution left for a while. Expect better performance when AMD'll switch to 65nm (currently 90nm) processors, which should be arround January.

I got drunk! I like your gift better.
Is that just a single video card? Not that it matters, I think SLI is overkill. Overclocking is a tedious process, many people become impatient and fry their CPU. What are you using to cool that bad boy?
Doitle, that woofer looks like it can give you a concussion.
There is nothing wrong with using the 939 socket or regular DDR modules, They are as fast as anything on the market, and will be around for a long time. Plus, I quit trying to have the latest and fastest hardware before anyone else. What looks fast on paper may not be so in real life situations or just may not catch on, note RAMBUS. I like knowing a product has proved to be a good piece.

And there is nothing wrong with getting socket AM2 instead. It costs JUST AS MUCH as socket 939.

They won't be around forever. Why? Because AMD isn't going to produce Socket 939 processors anymore. However Socket 754 will still be supported and will be the only true DDR(1) option from AMD as I said earlier.
