Video card is overheating probably... I had Renegade freezing up alot. I found the cause, and the fan wasn't running anymore.... Open the case and see how hot it gets and maybe dust it out abit. Also Ren will crash from time to time, but it should not happend to often.

You didn't necessarily specify when it freezes. If it freezes when you close Renegade, just close RenGuard instead. Minimize out of the game, right click the RenGuard icon, and exit. It will close both RenGuard and Renegade without problem.

138 degrees is that for CPU or VGA? Which one it is wouldn't really matter I can tell you though for both it's not good and it might be done real soon with the component.
CPU should be between 30-70
VGA can get some more 90C is not strange
Also AMD Atlhon XP2400's don't have the built in thermal protection like p4's/AMD64's. So if its overheating it will just continue.

Ever since i started using Renguard i have the same problem. The game plays fine and everything, but when I want to stop playing I click back, back, back, and quit, then click yes and it freezes. It wont let me exit out control alt delete or anything so I just have to turn my computer off manually. I'd say it happens 25% of the time I try to exit Renegade.

Uhh I think this guy meant that its happening ingame when he's playing.
Install Renegade before sp2 to not have the exit freeze or just ctrl+ alt+del
