Reinstalled Ren...now Renguard doesn't work...Renguard was uninstalled prior to the reinstallation of Renegade...but when I go to install Renguard it comes up with repair/modify/uninstall. However it will not do any of the above three things probably because there is no Renguard to uninstall! Why does the renguard setup program think renguard is already installed? and ultimately, how can i reinstall renguard successfully?

Take everything out of the register that has renguard in it. Or just install in a different directory.

When i run the renguard setup it only has repair, Modify and Uninstall options. Renguard won't 'uninstall', so I can't install it...even though it isn't installed....which files does the renguard setup place in the renegade directory?

You made that clear in your 1st post Crazfula, we got that already.

You posted but you really didn't say if you did what Goztow suggested. If you didn't why not.

I'm not going to post to try to help you, just so you do not do what I suggest, then post what you posted in your 1st post.

There is no 'file' it looks for, it is a registry setting that says 'Renguard has been installed on this computer'. (well not literally, but thats what the installer looks for)

Go to start, click on run, type regedit and click ok.

Now browse to this key and delete it;

index.php?t=getfile&id=881&private=0

This should let you reinstall renguard

done that...searched registry for everything renguard and deleted it...to no avail.

To be more specific, here are some screenies of what i get when i run renguard setup.

index.php?t=getfile&id=882&private=0

Attempt to 'Modify' or 'Repair' and you get a notification stating it is not possible.

index.php?t=getfile&id=883&private=0

So i turn to the final option, uninstall (in the hope of reinstalling from scratch).

index.php?t=getfile&id=884&private=0

The progress bar freezes at that point, approx 5%. However after, it says the operation was completed.

index.php?t=getfile&id=885&private=0

After that, I run the setup again to reinstall and it still comes up with repair/modify/uninstall.

index.php?t=getfile&id=886&private=0

Renguard does not appear to be installed ie no game2.exe and game.exe is the renegade executable.

Also as I said.....i just reinstalled renegade and actually lost my data folder so nothing in there should be a problem.

For the uninstaller to think renguard is installed there must be something in the registry, maybe not even under the name renguard...
