I got the first decade today and It forced me to uninstall previous instances of Renegade. So when I tried to re-install Renguard to my Command and Conquer First Decade/Renegade directory Renguard gives me this error:

"You must install Rengaurd to your Renegade Directory!"

This should be a quick fix in coding if this is the case, just allow another pathway for Rengaurd to be installed to.

If there is already a way to install it, the explaination would be greatly appreciated.

Ugh, beat me to it.

I think it was a security issue that made it so there was only one installation path. There just needs to be an update of some sort to allow for the new default path:

C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer Renegade(tm)\Renegade

Thanks for letting us know of this issue. In the meantime I have attached a zipfile that you can use to manually install RG.

To manually install Renguard
----------------------------
1. First make sure that your Renegade is updated to version 1.037
2. Rename game.exe to game2.exe
3. Rename scripts.dll to scripts2.dll
4. Unzip the Renguard.zip into your Renegade directory.

The files in the zip are:
game.exe
scripts.dll
renguard.dll
bhs.dll

Renguard installs, but the new .exe The First Decade uses isn't the same as the old one. The result:

[20:00] Welcome to RenGuard !
[20:00] To launch Renegade, please click 'Renegade'.
[20:00] Unauthorized file game2.exe has been found in your renegade directory
[20:00] Unauthorized file game2.exe has been found in your renegade directory

I got the exact same thing. Also, Renegade comes Pre-Installed with the update it seems.

Hmmm wow...I had no idea that first decade came with version 1.037 out of the box. And their game.exe is different somehow, so I have now added the First Decade game2.exe to the RenGuard database, so it should no longer say its an unathorized file.

Also, in case all else fails, here is my personal game2.exe, complete with no-cd Wink

Can someone else confirm this?

I just tried it without the CD, or the no-CD crack, and got it to run fine. It seems that only Generals requires the CD.

You don't need to uninstall renegade to install the first decade...

It says is that it MAY cause problems, that just means if you install renegade with the first decade it might conflict with the old one. Hit "continue anyway" then just choose to do a custom installation and deselect Renegade.

hey renguard has the path wrong wen u try to install it on first decade....

jus change the path to the real one...coz by the looks of it, rg guesses the path wrong lol

RG guesses ---- > C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer Renegade\Renegade

Correct path ---- > C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer Renegade(tm)\Renegade

basically it misses the (tm) bit lol

once changed it works PERFECTLY Very Happy

im just wondering, after you have installed renguard and its starts up saying you need to download core patch, does it download core patch 1 and 2 or just core patch 2?

It will download both patches if you dont have any patch installed.

Found something interesting (but depressing) tonight after installing RenGuard on Renegade (First Decade) with the Core Patch.

The Renegade Main Menu has no text. At all. There are no buttons to click, had to hit ESC to get out of the program.

Suggestions on a fix? Not sure what to search for in the topic list for this problem.

Not sure how to help with this, I dont think any other FD users have reported that their menu text dissappears, and RenGuard certainly doesn't do anything with fonts etc.
