I'm not sure how old this actually is, but it's only recently come to my attention that Adobe, makers of Adobe Premiere and Adobe PhotoShop, have finalized their purchase of Macromedia Software. What does this mean for Macromedia Flash and other related things? I'm not sure. What really scares me is the fact that Adobe was able to do this in the first place.
See...a while back, they bought Syntrillium, makers of Cool Edit and Windchimes. This wasn't all that unexpected considering Syntrillium was one of the "little fish," despite the phemonial success of Cool Edit Pro and so forth. But now, with Adobe purchasing Macromedia of all companies...what's going to be next? Who are they going to purchase in the near future? Are they planning to capitalize on something, somehow, some way? Or are they just trying to run a mega-company? And who's to say that one of the really huge companies(Microsoft is the only one that comes to mind, presently...) doesn't take notice of this movement Adobe's doing and swoop in to buy them?
It boggles my mind. Perhaps I worry too much, but this actually does sort of rank high on my "What-the-Fuck-O-Meter". First Syntrillium...then Macromedia... And then...the world!
Your thoughts?

Hot topic? Wtf? Everyone in the design/etc. community saw this as a great thing... Just think about the possibilities! You worry for no reason at all, Adobe is a great corporation that delivers quality software to its clients.

I s'pose so... I guess Adobe noticed a lot of Flash animators used Cool Edit Pro, and after some time, decided to grab both of those pieces of software for themselves. It seems greedy to me, but it's not like I know the first thing about big business. Other than "Don't make the customer feel unimportant."
And yes. "Hot Topic". I wasn't sure what sort of responce this topic might generate, so I wasn't going to take any chances. A Moderator can move it wherever they feel like.

This allows both companies to "trim the fat" so to speak. I would guess at some point in the future, "Fireworks" will be gone, and there will certainly be some sort of consolidation with golive/flash/dreamweaver.

Also, nobody cares for this kind of shit. It's just more time you waste by doing this. Hell, I'm taking to much time writing this with all this annoying emphasis.
whoa.
