Listen to this one.

Playing renegade, hear a funny siren sound coming from the tower.
Boom, shuts off. I dont know what I did, so i turn it on, funny siren sound a gain. Im like, wtf.

So I pop her open, take a look and see that the main CPU fan is dusty, i take her apart, give her a nice cleaning, pop her where she should be and watch this time ot the startup.

It seems the fan goes at like 700 RPM when it should be usually doing 3500 (when we first bought it) They think its the "coolant chip" but im not convinced. No viruses, brand new, 3000$ computer i dont see why it would do this to me.

IT the fan, definately. When i kick it (wrong thing to do but i was mad) It will boot up to abour 2500 RPM for about 2 minutes, then die to 300-400 RPM
Any ideas? I downloaded Mother Board Moniter 5 and it works great, it shows my the temp of my CPU at crashes.

It reaches 100 Degrees C
Yes, Celcius by what it says.

I wanna fix this, but i dont want to take it 15 miles to get it reapaired, any ideas?

How much roughly will this cost, and will I need to dwnld anything to make it work properly?

lol... you don't need to install any software to use a CPU fan.

Your CPU fan is just trash, and a new one could easily be $10. Don't even bother fixing it.

From what you said about the temperature your CPU's life probably has been shortened. When it heats up that much its like putting the processor under extreme overclock conditions. Get the new fan, and get the most efficient one you can, you don't want to buy a new processor.

By the time it fries you'll be a new computer anyway. I've messed mine up many times by accident and it's still stable.

What CPU do you have, exactly?
Some processors, like Prescot-core processors, run around 80c on average.

That is a Socket 775, which means that it is a Prescott-core P4.
That kind of temperature is normal for a Prescott, nothing big to worry about, although I would really reccomend getting Arctic Silver 5 and a better heatsink.

Check your wiring too. If your wires aren't uniform they could make it so the heat can't escape the case as well, forming a heat pocket. I just had that problem.

Return to the manufacturer. You don't sound like a person who knows how to set a heatsink with Arctic Silver. 100C is way to hot for any CPU, even a P4. Im surprised the MOBO didn't burn up aswell. Anyway, did you remove the fan from the heatsink, or did you take the heatsink from the chip? What the hell is a "coolant chip" anyway? If you removed the heatsink from the cpu, you need to clean both with acetone, use coffee filters for rags, and use AS on install. If it's under warranty you should return to the manufacturer.

Buy a heatsink that is rated for a 3.4 GHz processor. that should do the trick Wink (about 3.4 GHz or whatever...)

i must agree with help, YOU GOT SHAFTED.

My computer has $200 and it runs BF2 on high at 25fps (not bad for a 6200OC)
I get 120fps in renegade and thats not to bad for a Sempron and not that the AMD Athlon 3800+ X2 Dual Core CPU's are about $150 now im upgradeing realy soon.

the amd duel core proccessors are really good, but a good bit of advice from me is:

DON'T GET THAT INTELL DUEL CORE SHIT that processor is sooooooooo, slow!

it maby fast to you, but amd users will probably think it is slow. amd processors have allways been one step ahead of intell.
some people think that the speed of the processor EG 2.7 GHz is how fast it will be but that is wrong.

from what i understand about how they work, processors have something called registers and the more registers a processor has the faster it will be.

a register performs commands that the operating system gives it.
amd have an advanced command system on their registers, intell have only a simple set of commands.

also from what i have heard, intell processors have 16 registers, amd have 32.

that is why amd processors are known to get hot. it is also why amd processors are so much faster than intell processors.

to me, intell processors are not too bad. but i have noticed that they are very bad a mulititasking. but running one or two programs is ok.

i was more or less right Wink the speed does change on other factors like cache, clock speed etc.

i don't know much about the workings of the processor even reading that website. the problem is that people want to describe it but they make it too general, eg:
