I found this game to be highly underrated. After fixing my CD problems (You can help in the Tech Support Section of the Renegade Client), I was planning to get back into this game. How's the online community?

Well, I wanted to have fun and return to it. Is it worth the trouble of fixing my game to play the multiplayer again?

It DEFINATELY is! Playing this game for a couple of years now and it's still great.

You can find me in The KOSs2 (TK2) discord while I'm playing. Feel free to come and say hi! TK2 discord

If you bought it for less than $10, you should probably keep it.

Heh, I got mine for free and still have my doubts. I miss the old Westwood, when games were great and everyone could agree.

I think I bought the first EA-Sanctioned Command & Conquer Collection for, like... $39.95 plus shipping or something off'a eBay. Worth every god damned penny, too.(Not just for Renegade, even though I did buy it mostly for that one game. I also wanted to finish my Command & Conquer collection off. All I'm missing right now is Counterstrike. Rather, the US version. The one I bought was the Euro disc!! XD)

I got it for £10 at PC World. Something like spring 2003 I think. I'm a lot newbier than people think.

I bought it full price after directly after it came out.

I just played my first servers. A bit laggy, but the game was great.

I bought it at wal-mart for $30 canadian in 2003 or ... 4 i forget. i was 10 and played single player over and over. Then bought it in a pack for $25 can. I first played it online when i was 12 and loved it ever since. Came to the forums when i got my own computer. Started mapping mid last summer.

BTW: I played C&C 95 when i was 3. I can still go back to that freaken nod level 7, must have played it for 8 hours over and over. (when your 3 your sence of time can be a little off.)

I pretty much grew up on C&C so, renegade was sweet for me. Hpe you liked my life story Big Grin

I bought this game as a 'combo pack'. It had Tiberian Sun and maybe an expansion, Renegade, and Red Alert with Yuri's Revenge. My pc can't play Tiberian Sun, so I played it on a relative's pc, but Red Alert is much better, so Tiberian Sun is collecting dust. <- Run on sentence. Renegade is a very good online game. Especially for a game so old. The population is much better then most beta online games I play for free.

Well I followed Renegade previews since 2001. When it arrived on the stores in february 2002, I didn't wait more than 2 days to get it. (New game and so I paid 55 euros for it)

I started the single player experience first as I bought mainly the game for it. After 5 min, I said myself: OMG IT SUCKS.
As I bought medal of honor the same day, I played moh during next week. Then I decided to try the multiplayer of Renegade before selling it to someone... Since this day, my opinion about this game changed, I never sold my game. I bought many other games since like:

Doom3
CnC Generals
Half-life 2
CS Source
Unreal 2004
Battlefield Vietnam (what a mistake, I gave it back the same day)
Vampire Bloodlines (source engine)
Moh + all expansions
Call of duty
Call of duty 2
Need for speed undergound
and other games...

All those game didn't last more than 1 weeks on my hands then I sold those.

I still play Renegade today (soon it will be the fourth year I play it) and I am not about to stop.

So I would say that all the magazines and people who rated this game bad never tried it online. Ok the graphics aren't the "big stuff" but the gameplay and the concept is so good. Each game online is like a new experience.

So yeah, return to it and be ready for the next chapters of Renegade:

CnC Reborn , Red Alert A path beyond and Renegade a new hope!

The GFX for this game, considering how old it is, I think is well worth it.

Let all your wishes be granted except one, so you will still have something to strieve for.

I remember those days. I too would play C&C 59, beat it for GDI, beat it for Nod, then beat the whole game again in few months and then again.
Then after I moved to Canada, I bought the game again, and beat it again(but only for Nod, because for some reason the were selling this game at EB games, but it had RA1 soviet, and Nod disk only). That is (almost)4 times!
Compared to RA1, I beat it and was like: screw this.

I played C&C95, loved the gameplay and the cool movies. I played RA1 and loved the SP, movies and skirmish. I still play RA1 every week. Buying 50 V1 Rocket Launchers in skirmish is still fun. I got Renegade for my birthday the year it was released. I only played SP, because we didn't had fast internet connection back then. I beat SP, then got back to playing RA2, then played YR. In 2004 when we got better internet I begon playing Renegade online under the nick maikel222. I was amazed, not only because of it was the first FPS I played, but also because of the gameplay.

I bought the game new in Spring 2002 with some WHSmith Vouchers I had. Didn't have any Internet so I played SP. I Think I got to Temple of Nod level then stopped playing as I got bored. I then tried out MP in January 2003 when I got unlimited Dial-Up. Very Happy I played it regularly putting up with 300-500+ pings until I went to Uni.

Since then I've only played it like 10-20 times randomly through the years. I Might get back into it as I have ADSL now so the experience will probably be different without warping all over the place. Depends if I can be bothered to reinstall.

Ooh, nasty.

The "experience" might not be much better, renegades lag is pretty bad.
