I found this game to be highly underrated. After fixing my CD problems (You can help in the Tech Support Section of the Renegade Client), I was planning to get back into this game. How's the online community?
Well, I wanted to have fun and return to it. Is it worth the trouble of fixing my game to play the multiplayer again?

I did and am.

Heh, I got mine for free and still have my doubts. I miss the old Westwood, when games were great and everyone could agree.

I got it for £10 at PC World. Something like spring 2003 I think. I'm a lot newbier than people think.

I bought it at wal-mart for $30 canadian in 2003 or ... 4 i forget. i was 10 and played single player over and over. Then bought it in a pack for $25 can. I first played it online when i was 12 and loved it ever since. Came to the forums when i got my own computer. Started mapping mid last summer.
BTW: I played C&C 95 when i was 3. I can still go back to that freaken nod level 7, must have played it for 8 hours over and over. (when your 3 your sence of time can be a little off.)
I pretty much grew up on C&C so, renegade was sweet for me. Hpe you liked my life story

Well I followed Renegade previews since 2001. When it arrived on the stores in february 2002, I didn't wait more than 2 days to get it. (New game and so I paid 55 euros for it)
I started the single player experience first as I bought mainly the game for it. After 5 min, I said myself: OMG IT SUCKS.
As I bought medal of honor the same day, I played moh during next week. Then I decided to try the multiplayer of Renegade before selling it to someone... Since this day, my opinion about this game changed, I never sold my game. I bought many other games since like:
Doom3
CnC Generals
Half-life 2
CS Source
Unreal 2004
Battlefield Vietnam (what a mistake, I gave it back the same day)
Vampire Bloodlines (source engine)
Moh + all expansions
Call of duty
Call of duty 2
Need for speed undergound
and other games...
All those game didn't last more than 1 weeks on my hands then I sold those.
I still play Renegade today (soon it will be the fourth year I play it) and I am not about to stop.
So I would say that all the magazines and people who rated this game bad never tried it online. Ok the graphics aren't the "big stuff" but the gameplay and the concept is so good. Each game online is like a new experience.
So yeah, return to it and be ready for the next chapters of Renegade:
CnC Reborn , Red Alert A path beyond and Renegade a new hope!

I remember those days. I too would play C&C 59, beat it for GDI, beat it for Nod, then beat the whole game again in few months and then again.
Then after I moved to Canada, I bought the game again, and beat it again(but only for Nod, because for some reason the were selling this game at EB games, but it had RA1 soviet, and Nod disk only). That is (almost)4 times!
Compared to RA1, I beat it and was like: screw this.

Hasta la vista, baby!

The "experience" might not be much better, renegades lag is pretty bad.
