Where can I download a Slipknot song? I want to judge the musical talent of this 9 piece band. Is it a 9 piece band if 4 of them forget to bring an instrument? The White Stripes seem good, after listening to only 3 songs. Not very original though.
Took me a long time to accept this band, and I don't know why.
Lars Ulrich plays to his own beat, and has an endurance that can only be appreciated after leaving a Metallica show.
John Bonham had an incredible, and powerful sound that evryone loves.
Neil Pert can play the Xylophone for crying out load. Also, an amazing ability to tune a drum set. Call me when you can tune a 100 piece set to sound like his.
Come on, this man could play with anyone. Notice the way he holds the sticks. funda-fuckin-mentals
True Greatness, and just a good human
The best finish, closest finish in the 50 year history of Winston Cup
Freddy Krueger music video
Harvester Of Sorrow, language of the mad
Johnny Cash & Bob Dylan A Thousand Miles Behind
Your own personal Jesus, someone to hear your prayers
Kyle's mom is a bitch
Johnny Cash Live @ San Quentin
Don't Y'all Think This Outlaw Bit's Done Got Out Of Hand?

I agree.

Music is as strong as a religion to me. I'd appreciate it if you didn't insult mine, let alone make it seem like I'm doing it. Thanks

Slipknot is more or less that sort of thing you have to be deeply into to understand what it's about, basically any band to for that matter.
Compare it to the people who play Video Games. There are always those people who criticize others playing them all day. That is only because it doesn't mean anything to them, They don't undestand. Video Games would be that persons break from reality, Music is my break from reality.
This example can be said about anything a person deeply cares about.

Nope, their last album; The Subliminal Verses vol. 3 was multi-Platinum. It's an excellent CD, It was directed by Rick Rubin, The same guy that did System of a down: Toxicity, Mesmerize and Hypnotize.

You can listen to four of their songs here off their new album.

Out those four I would suggest Pulse of the maggots or Before I forget. All of them are excellent songs though.

Point taken, but they just looked like a huge, ridiculous gang in that video, IMHO.
I actually like some of their songs, so I respect them music-wise, which is, of course, the most important aspect of a band.

The only Slipknot song I've heard and liked is Duality. I can't stand any other songs myself, it's just noise. But to be honest I'd rather listen to Slipknot than White Stripes, however.

You of all people should know that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Besides, a band can suck, they arent saying that the type of music itself sucks.
And yes, i dont like Slipknot, but im not going to type a 5 pge essay on why i dont.
Ill keep it short
Screaming-Masked-Freaky people with Hard Metal m usic, i dont like it.
However, dont say i dont like metal.
Metallica is my favourite Metal Band.
White strips, i dont mind. Seven Nation Army is a decent song.

If you like Duality, you will most likely like anything on their latest CD, The Subliminal Verses vol. 3
Deffinitly check these out if you liked duality though.
Before I forget
Circle
Gently
Prelude 3.0
Vermillion Pt. 2
These too, a bit harder:
Scream - Their best song in my oppinion
Pulse of the Maggots
My Plauge [ New Abuse Mix ]
The Mameless
Vermillion
All of those are off subliminal verses except Gently and My Plauge.
If you like all of those I can point you guys in the direction of some more good songs by slipknot.

I never said he couldn't have his own opinion about the band. I just wish people would give them a chance.

Your right, I agree. And I have tried to listen to them, so its not solely based on their looks.
However, you did say that it was your religion and that he was insulting it.
To him, music may not be a religion. Its only music. But to you or I, its in our everyday lives. I like Rap, you like Metal, but to us, they ar eboth different sides to one coin.
If he knew that you felt so strongly about it, he maybe would have at least backed up his statement with facts or reasons why he hates them so much.
However, it seems like its 50/50 here on who likes them. It seems they are either REALLY liked, or REALLY hated. Its a shame, they have talent. I just wish my ears could stand it.

Yea, they are pretty bad. With so many "talented" band members, you'd think they'd be able to pull off something cool.
Oh well, more Iron Maiden for me.

One thing my tutor Rick tells me alot is "there is no such thing as bad music, only music played badly", which if you think about it makes sense.
Whitestripes piss me off because there's no bass so it lacks depth, Meg White can't drum for shit and Jack's voice is damn annoying. Although the songs I reckon have potential; Seven Nation Army for example; now that would be a great song if they got a bass player in and Meg magically was able to drum to save her life.
Anyway, back onto Slipknot, I'm having a listen to left behind and I can't say it grips me as a good song. I know it wouldn't be slipknot but maybe (on the singing parts) if some other band member(s) added a 3rd or 4th note harmony and sang it in the same key as the riff then it would sound alot better; kind of System-Of-A-Down-esque.
The whole structure and form of the songs sounds pretty decent, I like how it's put together.
You see the thing about Duality for me is that the singing is bang on, the drumming sounds brilliant, the other guitar(ist/s) are playing counter melodies (in the chorus) and it's something you can really nod/bang your head to. Now when the songs starts, the simple bass line helps to the build up, as the drums come in the texture builds and the whole things starts to feel alot deeper.
I'll have a listen to Gently now..

I don't think I could sway you into anything on Iowa. Gently is more of a musical solo.
Be sure you check out their new album. It was directed by Rick Rubin, He has done some amazing things. He directs all of the System of a Down albums.
Also read this if you are intrested:

Be sure to listen to Before I forget:

Any of the other ones are great aswell. All off the new album.

I gues Slipknot is more than music to me. It's like my Drug.
Their music has helped me with a lot of issues. Times when I struggle with social assholes at say.. work, I would just keep one of their songs in my head. Eventually I would calm down and forget about it.
Ever since I saw the Music video Left Behind, Slipknot has been my favriote band.
