I can't fire in Airplanes in BF2 for crap, but at least I can fly them I suppose. Sniping isn't that hard in BF2, it's finding people TO SNIPE that's hard. By the way, n00bs can't snipe in renegade just as much as they can't snipe in BF2.

I can't fly planes or helicopters in BF2. I can over with either but I'm sure there's a button or something somewhere that I'm not pressing. I've given up now, I let other people do the flying.

<Your on crack. Renegade is the best game to EVER have come out, I have been playing it since day 1, played for 9 hours staright the day I got it Sure, BF2 is good, and so is COD 2 but these are modern games that picked quite a few things from Renegade!

Renegade was propably very good before EA messed it up. Orginally known as C&C Commando.

If you call jumping around with a weapon that has no recoil, and does absurd damage, being a sniper: go play BF2 and find out what it takes to actually be a sniper in a video game.

In Renegade the only difference between you and every other character is that your weapon kills instantly and has a magnification ability, and that you flicker at warp speed due to a client-server bug when you magnify in your scope. So I don't honestly think anyone deserves the name "sniper" in this game, unless your definition of it includes jumping around without any concealment with a huge rifle you'd never be able to fire in that position.

Hmm.. only one flaw in your analysis. Not everyone does that (unless by chance situation, such as travelling to the sniping position). I prefer to snipe from accross the map, aiming for nothing but the head. A headshot is a headshot, and even in BF2 it's a one-shot-kill world.

I haven't seen mrcod and friends in ages. Java doesn't play anymore. Drastic does play, I just don't see him very often at all.

What's it like now? Full of absolute idiots. On most servers you have to figure out at which time the old(good) players all come on at if you want any decent gameplay. Otherwise you get a bunch of morons who would rather stick their boot up their ass isntead of getting a free engineer to repair anything.

Also: The pits server is gone, and most of the regulars there have migrated to the n00bstories server.

I'm still around outside of the game. I come here on a frequent basis but I tend to hide in the shadows. I haven't made much effort to get back into the game as I would've hoped. One thing they holds me back is the frustration of the game these days. I just can't regain past form.

As for mrcod, I have seen him around on the GameSpot forums but that was a few months ago. Javaxcx is still around with the name Carbon-12, I believe.

Yeah well, I play BF2 most of the time these days, and I agree it takes loads of skill. But I still love to play Renegade from time to time. Ever think the charm of Renegade is that very same simplicity? And that that simplicity is what keeps people coming back? Maybe not everybody wants games that are allmost realistic? I just love the long Renegade duals and that you can see how damaged your opponend is. Renegade duals are way more exciting, and still make my palms swetty even after 5 years of playing. BF2 just doesn't have that. It is 3 shots and you are dead in 2 seconds. And you just can't beat the 'poing' when you kill someone. I could name 10 more such little things that make Renegade just a really fun game, even without the realism.

These little things are the real secret behind Renegade. If you really want to do a good Renegade mod you need to keep that simplicity intact, and just make the graphics look better.

(dunno if someone said this already, but I was too lazy to read the whole thread Satisfied)

For you to have played five years, you would have had to of tested the game before 2002. I seriously doubt you've played it longer than me since I've had it since 3 December, 2001, and I'm just into my fourth year.

Maybe not quite 5 years, but a few months after the beginning anyway. Then played it every day for a few hours at least. But who cares, this is not a pissing contest about who played the longest. You are totally ignoring my point. Pitty...

Renedage is just down and out fun as hell to play.

I have tried many other games and simply cannot get it out of my system, the only bad thing is that it has been out so long, you either have noobz or hacks playing it.

Renegade went downward's with people, alot of people left but most that hapend after december 2004 imo. Renegade is still a great game though, Just play some new maps and if you play to much it might get boring. But if you just play it a couple of times a week it's still very fun.
