So anyway I just played it, it's pretty good. Big Ups The space battle tutorial brought my computer to it's knees, so I only did the Rebel tutorial. It's pretty cool, though not of course exactly like C&C. It reminded me of AOE a little bit. Smile The only thing that I didn't particullarly liked was how the rebel units couldn't go through the trees on the first level? That was odd.

Oh, and the cinematic view ROCKS!

I just finished the first tutorial mission. It's not bad, but I just don't really like starwars. The buildings remind me of continuum concept art a bit.

I'll try the rest of them later. I may buy the game if someone decides to make a C&C mod for it though.

If you got to file planet you have to wait for like an hour but then it downloads fast.

The first 3 times I tried failed. But now I'm using FilePlanet with my GSA account and I'm getting 160kb/sec.

Try Fileshack... it's a 45 minute wait but I'm getting 152k/sec.

I was about to suggest that. I only had to wait 23 seconds. Thank you Florida server.

Yeah, this is a must for a Star Wars fan. meh, I like the Star Wars movies alot especialy 4,5,6 but this is pretty good too first I thought it was to much like C&C Generals till I folowed the tutorial and I found out about the cut scene which can be made of the battle that is going. And the retreat option is cool too, I just have the feeling that when in the battle you can't really do what you want the units to do. But when I get some more time i'm playing it some more its definitly not a bad game but a good game imo.

Got it off Fileplanet with no wait time and at about 500 KB/s. It's a pretty fun game, but I don't really care for Star Wars...

I feel your pain bud. I get 1.1 megabytes per second on the Yahoo servers and fileplanet servers only reach up to 600kb/s and you have to wait a damn hour to download the thing. Sad

Which download service is the least congested at the moment? I want to download this at full speed since its a large file.

LOL, just download it off Xfire! I got it in about 30 minutes and I didn't have wait in a line either.

Good thing I started downloading as soon as they uploaded it.

Well, this game rocks so far, but there maybe two things that bug me the most right now...

1. Cinematic mode is rather annoying; they need to fix it. When there is a big battle going on and I want to see the whole thing in cool views, it would first look at some random troop all the way across the map, and other times just randomly focus on a creature walking around, totally ignoring the huge battle.

2. The explosions need work. They looked really good in the trailers, but now they look really bad. I don't know why they changed them to look worse, but I hope a lot of things in this demo aren't finalized.

I didn't find anything else that bugged me. I played the demo for a solid two hours or more. It also ran nicely on maxed out detail (except soft shadows weren't on and I had anti-aliasing on 2x). Both gameplay and graphics match up pretty well, whereas in Age of Empires III it seemed as if ES put more work in the graphics than the gameplay.

EXCELLENT JOB PETROGLYPH! Thumbs Up

Yeah, I think that you should be able to control the cinematc view with like the arrow buttons or something to move around and look at different units.

Very interesting concept. Civilization style gameplay meets Star Trek: Armada style space RTS meets Empire: Battle for Dune style multiple fronts, reinforcements and ground-based action.

3-in-1!

I got my copy of the demo at 260K by going to google and typing in the keywords: "Empire at War demo download". Then, I went to the 6th page, found some obsure yet fast site that nobody was using and downloaded it from there.

I found the time to play it and... wow. Very fun game indeed. I enjoyed watching the space battles with the cinematic view. However, the ground cinematic view was shitty.

I know what I'm buying this February. Smile

Very cool game!
Played it twice today & managed to complete it both times Razz

I've also been looking into modding the game now & for when the game is released.
And it seems somebody has already been able to hack the game to enable you to play as empire (but buggy), Import & Export the MEG data files & other stuff..
The structure of the game data is very basic IMO! So it can be easily modded!
But it worries me that when this goes to the full version with MP, people will take advantage of this and start making cheats...

Modding the game is basicly just changing, adding, or deleting values in .xml files. There's a lot of stuff in the demo, it's huge. The problem is just getting it all to work together correctly. Sometimes if you change one setting you have to change something in another file to allow that setting, and so on...
