how is the ability to have it be bypassed any reason for you not to install it? It's like saying, "I'm not going to join any VAC secured servers in CS since they can be bypassed" Anything is bypassable. Not to mention "buggy" is a little vague. Would it be better if no one used RG since we could all use excuses as such?

How is "it can be bypassed" an excuse at all? Are you saying that there's no point in you downloading it since you'd just bypass it anyway? If not, then no that's not a legitimate excuse in any way.

It's buggy? I recall you saying on xphaze that RG gives you no trouble, you just choose not to use it for your own reasons. It sounds like you're just pulling papers out of a hat and posting whatever they say.

I wouldn't bypass it if I had it, but the fact it can be bypassed means if someone has it, then they can still be cheating, which kinda makes it a void point.

Look closer. I said it installs and I can run it, but It's more a matter of principle. I played cheat free for ages until RG came out, and I continue to play cheat free. I don't need RG to tell anyone that.

This was just designed to be a bit of a joke, not a debate over RenGuard. Can a mod lock this please?

Just because it is bypassable it doesn't mean it doesn't do anything. punkbuster and VAC for cs are both bypassable but they sure do help in rooting out cheaters. Hell, I was in a server that didn't even have half-rg and it took like 5-10 minutes for this mod to kick a cheater that i knew was cheating(bighead) Fact of the matter is that an anticheat such as renguard reinforces the belief if you think someone is cheating. If some guy shot you around a corner with headshots and you didn't know if it was lag or big head and you look to see if he has RG. Wouldn't you think there'd be more of a chance he was cheating if he was NOT using RG? logic would point to yes.

it's a matter of being a good gamer to install it whether or not you cheated in the past or not. I've never cheated once in the +3 years i've played this game but i don't see myself better than anyone else that i don't install it. In fact I think anyone who WOULDN'T cheat would be just to quick as I was to install it and keep it running. It's just so childish if it really is a "matter of principle" You think you're the only fucking guy out there who hasn't cheated? Think again.

7) I CAN'T RUN RG B/C WIN XP DOESN'T WORK FOR ME! UH-OH! (a.k.a. why poor =HT=Ingram can't run RG) p.s. the ForceRG in BRenBot is still somewhat vulnerable to abuse (the 3 friends trick) (it should be a teampoll or pubpoll, if not a mod-only command)

No one has a sense of humor these days. I find it funny, CAUSE ITS TRUE lol.

RenGuard basically ruined how most people play. You join a server without renguard, you get 3 headshots, already you have a dumbass going

"!rg <nick>" -> <nick> is NOT running RenGuard.
"You cheat."

People rely on the tool too much and making them forget the term "skills". Theres no such thing as skill anymore these days in Renegade, you pop a few caps on a player, you get called a cheater or forcedrg. Not everyone knows what RenGuard is. You cant expect everyone to have it. You get called a noob for not having RG. Wow big deal, Ive done the same as light, cheat free and I dont need RG to proove it.

I think thats true... There is no IP ban lol. You cant even ban a player that isnt ingame. Some servers that use BR have to make a seperate bot just so they can do the things that isnt present in BRenBot such as autoban, ipban, etc.

jeese, not being funny, Doesn't take much if you're a half decent mod to spot someone cheating. So you attack Renguard, we fight back. You say it was all a joke and want a mod to lock the thread so no one can have their say but you? Somehow, that seems, well, unfair. I agree with canisnip. If you don't run Renguard be prepared to be called a cheater. I don't see any valid reason not to run Renguard.

i was on mp turbo aow yesterday and this killer65 guy who was playing without rg was bieng flamed and bieng accused of cheating and i knew he wasnt cheating then i was paged from this noob saying forcerg killer65 he cheats so just to take the piss i said killer does not cheat i hijacked his account and i use rg bypass and wallhack forcerg me then everyone believed it wat stupid noobs rg is brainwashing the renegade community!

Yeah, fuck human decency. i mean everyone else uses RG to show they aren't cheating but when it comes to players who haven't cheated before (supposedly, you can't really use that since there's no real way to back that up anyways) they have some sort of amnesty of using it (don't know WHERE they come up with that one) No. Of course you don't have to use renguard. But don't go complainin' about people forcerging you unless you really have a problemw ith renguard -- which i'd say most of the time that they probably don't even care enough to look for help anyways, but whatever. Christ almighty, it's not like at least once you've been wrong about saying a person cheated before. But yeah, you're right.
Think back to when you first started. People who are new to the game are at that exact same level. It's only NATURAL that they would think you cheated if you did something they didn't know you could do (ie obwalking/corner shooting/etcetc) So when you download and install RG this reassures some people that they aren't cheating. Of course it doesn't mean they aren't. Don't give me bullshit about people not testing when they have RG either. I was tested just a few days ago and that's not the first. Fact of the matter is, a server Renguarded will have less cheaters than a server without it. At least half RG you have a better way of kicking someone. God knows i've been in plenty of servers that didn't have RG and you'd have to votekick people out if they cheated (and some people don't even vote..) So what then do you do if they're is no mod? Leave? that's not good enough

It's fair if the person can install RG but decides not to for no reason. My opinion goes as far as saying that anyone who doesn't even try to get it to work that it's fair. That's just me, though. This thread shouldn't get locked when you're wrong.

Eitherway, I get accused of cheating when I'm not all the time. What are you going to do about it? Test me. It's like saying, "I'm not going to test because I'm not cheating" Sorry sir, but your word doesn't cut it" Like I said as well using RG doesn't stop people from doing either. Take screenshots? Done 'em. Do tests? Done 'em. Name it and I've done it. All using RG.
