When I got a new video card (Geforce 6800) I wanted to see how well Far Cry would run, so I downloaded the demo to test it out. But for some crazy reason it looks like shit whether I max it out or not... it looks like it's stuck on DirectX 7 or something. I tried downloading both demos but it does the same thing. My drivers are updated and all, so I'm not sure what the issue may be. I'm too curious to leave this be, so help would be appreciated.

Try an older driver. I'm using 7.7.7.7. I installed an 8 series driver, and I went from 60+ fps in Ren, to 4.

can you show a screenshot? It's kind of hard to get an idea of what your talking about without seeing. As i have been working with farcry alot lately, i might be able to help figure something out.

It looks like the shaders are gone or something.

ah yes. ive seen this before unfortunately.

since it is the demo, there is no fix. this was something with retail that happened at a certain driver number, and was fixed with a patch (i beleive it was fixed in patch 1.1).

If your looking for some example of how it looks on high settings, i might be able to make a fraps video for you.

Nah that's okay. I watched my friend play it on my dad's computer on very high detail and saw how nice it looked. Thanks anyways and thanks for the help.

If you get the full version, get in contact with me. Me you and dreamwraith can make a game.

The last time me and Dreamwraith made a server it filled up to about 14 players in less than ten minutes. It was so much fun.
