	| so u r sayin that i should replace my CD drive if its e cause of e problem?but apparently it seems not coz i could still play other games like Generals (n even TS!) they still load up without much of a hiccup so e cause is mayb not on e CD drive?then wat else could b e problem?haiz anw my comp is nearly 4 yrs old but its a p4 win xp 2.4ghz.quite a high-end one eh at that time in 2001?so i really hope i dun hav to replace it juz coz of e CD drive haha coz its long from being obsolete yet=) any more suggestions? thx |

	| You can replace a cd-rom drive without having to replace your whole pc... A normal CD-writer - DVD-reader combo should cost you about 60 € nowadays, I think. A DVD-writer a bit more towards 120 €.
BTW: P4 2.4 in 2001? That is AMAZING

loading a game does not need to read the cd much, installing it requires the cd to be read in much more detail, and is when something like a misaligned laser would cause problems.

When you load a game all it really does is look at the cd and ask itself, is this the CD I am looking for or not
