I found that comment "Americans butchering their language" (maybe not an exact quote) funny, when "American English" is a butchering of English anyway.

I had a situation of this caliber occur in English class. We were talking about King Lear from the Shakespeare book King Lear. What was his major flaw? He was proud. Now in asking everyone else in the class you know what answer I get? He was prideful. He was prideful. He was much too prideful. His pridefulness was his downfall. I was going insane trying to find one person who would say he was proud and I couldn't find one.
