It is much better than AVG. Sorry for the arguements I put up. AVG caught 4 viruses and NOD32 caught about 17 at the 32% point. I declare myself lucky this computer hasnt been killed!

From experiences I've seen, McAfee isn't much better than AVG. NOD32 is plain and simply the best AV I've seen in recent memory.
[Edit- someone posted when I did so I'll address them too. Norton sucks also. It doesn't miss as many as the previous two, but in doing so it still doesn't seem to catch as much as NOD32, and it eats resources like mad.]

I got an error when I installed NOD32 on my computer; namely, as soon as I turned on my computer and logged into Windows I would get a "Fatal Error" or something and Windows Explorer would shut down after about 60 seconds. I had to race about 5 times to uninstall NOD32 in the timeframe while my computer was loading up and before it shut down. I think a virus was at fault, but it was kind of an annoying experience.

There's a different Norton that is simple and works well. You guys are probably thinking of the Norton that has all of the useless shit such as anti-spyware and firewalls. I have the corporate edition, which is anti-virus and NOTHING else. I never have to do long annoying scans because it catches viruses RIGHT when you get them. It has yet to fail me, and I've been using it for over two years now.

Two years? That meanst hat if you use it legally, it has cost you 100 € now. The corporate edition is as bad as the others: it doesn't catch all virusses, catches no spyware at all and uses a lot of ressources. NOD32 costs 39 $ for a year, so that would make about 70 € for 2 years and does protect against virusses and other threats and does so while using way less ressources.
Then again, the marketing budget of Norton Antivirus is waaaaaaaaay bigger than that from NOD32, hence most people have Norton (just like Windows which was also pushed in the market).

I have it legally, for free. My dad gets it from his work completely free. And how do you know it doesn't catch all viruses? That's just a myth that you made up. Chances are you've never tried corporate, but have only heard rumors about it from people who fail to use it correctly. I don't want an anti-virus program to search for spyware, I use a different program than that, and I use Firefox. If Norton doesn't catch all of the viruses, how come I've been perfectly fine for two years without any noticeable performance hits/crashes that could come from viruses? PLEASE THINK BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR POSTS, THANK YOU. Also, it uses 4mb of my 1024mb of memory. WOW, what a performance hit... not. Thanks for the advice, but I'm not taking it.

Try using it on a laptop and play a game, ow let's say renegade?
It uses enough CPU to make my AMD 3000+ get constant FPS-spikes. And yes I used it. And yes, it has let virusses get passed on me.
Maybe you think and read before you post?
And maybe you could think we aren't all that lucky to get software for free?

Then I guess you are the unlucky one. Sorry, but it works fine for me. It uses absolutely no CPU for me, I suppose your computer just sucks. And again, read my post before you contradict yourself saying "OMKLG YOU DIDNTT RESD MY POST", I said I have had absolutely NO HISTORY of viruses slipping through. It is one of those problems that exists between the keyboard and the chair. I can see where you're trying to attack me. You took one basic thing I said, and attacked it. That one basic thing was correcting you that I got it for free, then you immediately attack me on that. Getting desperate? I would think so. No thanks, I'm not going to run Norton on a laptop, I like my computer JUST fine how it is.

Well actually, you had no problems and I did so I guess that explains why you use it and i don't... The fact that an independant test gave it "only" 86 out of 100 goes past you as you never had any problems.
Useless discussing any further.

Using AVG I haven't had any problems.
I believe I have had no viruses, as nothing except spyware has tried to make it past my firewall.
I guess it's just a case of luck, until all the AV companies work together, each will have their own database of virii it detects.
To that end, I have always tried to run more than one, and since they are both free, and the second only costs time whilst it is scanning (first stays passive), it is not hurting my PC by being there.
