MSI or Abit and why?

It's to go with (hopefully) a new athlon 64 4000+ for cristmas.

If you can suggest any better ones let me know. (they need AGP, 4 mem slots, socket 939, Serial ATA, 184pin RAM).

I have the MSI K8N NEO Platinum and I love it. I would say go with the MSI, it is essentially the newer version of my board with a better chipset and s939 as opposed to s754. I have never had any problems with mine and I found it very easy to do a litle overclock. My dads computer has a MSI board as well and he hasn't had any problems with it either.

-EDIT-
I would actually reccomend this one as it has the nforce4 chipset which is much superior to nForce3 and supports PCIx however it does not have AGP http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=307784&view=detai led

I have that exact MSI and it's great Smile

If you could though i'd recommend saving a little more and getting a pci-e one(nforce4 neo4), and getting a pci-e card to go with it. If I could do it over again that's what I would of done.

I haven't heard anything that would make me pick one above the other.

(I like Asus, sorry)

NForce 4 is PCI-E only. I need AGP as I recently bought a 256mb 6800 GT AGP 8x.

So the general comment so far is get the MSI one?

Well if it was me, I choose DFI. Just heard from numoerous overclockers, that it was the best mobo for overclocking. You can't really go wrong on MSI or Asus. They're both fine mobo, for the regular folks who don't overclock. Choosing either, is a matter of taste, and which one gives you the MOST for your money. Here's a mobo I looked up, it supports both pci and agp, don't know if they sell it where you live.

The AGP DFI board had a lot of problems. The Neo2 is considered the best NF3 s939 board for stability and overclocking.

I am going to buy the new Asus SLI Extreme bored so I can put two 7800GTXs on it! I will probably start out with 6600's though.
