HELP ME!!! INSTALLATION!!! [message #177487]

Ok... Here's my problem: I have an older computer. It's a Intel D815EEA motherboard with a Verto TNT-2 32mb video card, 224mb RAM, and two small hard drives. I have Windows 2000 Pro installed on the computer with Service Pack 4. So when I went to install Renegade, it prompted me to install DirectX. Ok, sounds good right? Right. So then I restarted, blah blah blah, and when it came to starting Setup.exe (the installer), I got an error. It says that "Setup.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. Please restart the program." The only thing I can do is click Ok. I tried to copy all the installed files from my computer over to that computer and then run the game, but that didn't seem to work. Can someone please help me figure out what is causing this to get an error. I even had Renegade installed on this motherboard and video card before. The only thing I changed was the Hard drives and CD-ROMs. WHY!!??

Windows 2000 isn't supported yet, I think. Wait for RenGuard 1.04.

Why do people find it so hard to read a paragraph. It makes perfect sense if you read it.

Infamshxr: Try downloading and installing DirectX manually. The latest is 9.0c and can be downloaded here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyI d=0A9B6820-BFBB-4799-9908-D418CDEAC197&displaylang=en

Restart, and try to install Renegade again.

Ive tried downloading DirectX 9.0c already....still didn't work. Also I have had Renegade installed on the computer before, like I said, with Windows 2000 Pro. Could it maybe be the CDROM not being able to read the disk right?

Know anyone else with a CD you can try?

Other than that, considering you own a fully legit copy, you could probably find the Renegade .iso's lying around somewhere.

I actually have 2 different CDs that are both legit copies. Neither work. For your updated purposes, I swiped the Hard Drive and put a litte bit newer and bigger one in ther... Not much bigger or newer, and I put Windows 98se on it, so I'm going to see how that works. I'll get back to ya guys

Ok if you are still having problems and you think its your CD-ROM then what i suggest if you have a CD-Burner is to download a program called CloneCD Link : h**p://www.slysoft.com/en/clonecd.html ( It isnt a direct link )

Once you've done that install the program if it asks to register dont worry its only going to be needed once, click on the 'Copy CD' icon and make yourself an ISO, once you have managed to complete this task download a program called Daemon Tools Link :
h**p://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/dae mon_tools.cfm

Install that mount yourself a CD Drive and you'll have Renegade on your computer 24/7.

If that still doesnt work then sorry i am out of ideas at this moment, sorry.
