Attention all Brits! [message #171975] |

I've been feeling adventurous lately, so I've been thinking about going to a university in the UK after a I get my Associates in IT (Won't happen for a few years).
I've been looking at a few sites, Manchester Metro U. in particular, and I'm completely confused. The procedures, terms and other things seem so different from a American college or university. In short, I'm freakin' confused.
Can anyone walk me through this?
edit by warranto: fixed the link for you.

[edit]the university looks promising if only I knew what everything meant.
When history witnesses a great change, Razgriz reveals itself,
First as a dark demon,
As a demon it uses its power to reign death upon the land;
and then it dies.
However, after a period of slumber, Razgriz returns.
This time as a great hero...

I'm having the same problem. Also, does anyone think they'd accept an Accociates from a American community college?

I personally hate brits, they are much to arrogant as a whole for my liking.
Stay in good ol' North America (assuming thats where you are, too lazy to press back and check your location, or edit this post).
NA has tons to offer, stay off the island of big teeth and tea.

It's always nice to see a few stereotypical morons once in a while. I used to think you were ok. I was obviously wrong.
By your reasoning, all muslims are terrorists, all Americans are fat and all Germans are Nazis.

Ignoring the fact I'm not sure what "heath" is supposed to mean, so do we, but you don't have free dental.
SuperMidget wrote on Mon, 19 September 2005 15:45 | 2. it is free
That's great, I'd rather have our system then yours.
|
Why? It's inferior and it costs you. I'm not seeing a plus point there.
SuperMidget wrote on Mon, 19 September 2005 15:45 | 4. since when is tea a bad thing?
It's not, I love it, I was just describing the nationally known traits of Britian.
|
Tea is not the most commonly consumed drink in Britain, and yes, it is spelt BRITAIN

You didn't offend me, I just think it's rather sad.

So, getting back to the topic at hand....
http://www.mmu.ac.uk/international/apply/post.php (I think this is the page Doitle was trying to link you to)
It looks like there are a bunch of different applications for postgraduate programs, with links to .pdf application files.
Hope that helps a little.

Thank you Hydra and Doitle, you were on topic and helped me. However, my real problem is relating the courses and programs. But I'll try calling or emailing MMU to find that out.
The reason I was interested in the UK was for something different. I've never been overseas, so I saw this as a possible opportunity. Besides, I wanted to see some people I know.

What interests you? Are you looking to further your IT edication, or do something unrelated but in conjunction with your IT experience (for example, you could want to start up your own company that does networking for major corporations or something like that, so a business degree would help out with something like that)?
I guess it really depends on the field you want to study while you're over there.

Yeah, and SuperFlyingEngi isn't a liberal. You were the one who started the AmeriCanada vs. the UK argument.
Anyway, that's all the Brits we have on this forum? Back in the day when I joined the community, there were alot more!

Thanks C4miner. I will definitely be using that site.
When I first joined this community, there were alot more people my age, so I figured that some would come out as if they were in the same boat as me.
Anyway, would a need a vehicle in certain parts of the UK, or is the train convenient throughout the island? Can international students even own a vehicle?
EDIT: Found this: http://www.mmu.ac.uk/international/living/driving.php
I won't ask about jobs. I'll do that myself.
Is there anyone else in America or Canada who is looking to study in the UK or somewhere else in Europe? Anyone from Europe looking to study here? Let's take this topic abit further.

I've thought about getting a post-graduate degree from the London School of Economics after getting my bachelors in either Economics or Finance.
Real quick note: I've heard that the public transportation system, especially the underground train system, is quite extensive, yet fairly efficient (having never been there before, I'm just going by what I've heard).

If you do buy a car, don't forget the daily £5 congestion charge spreading across England's busiest areas.
