If your keyboard stops responding, how do you manage to get the ol' Three-Fingered Salute to work? Also, given what you wrote, I'll assuming a simple keypress of Escape doesn't work. See, sometimes when you join a game for the first time after loading up Renegade, your unit will be unresponcive. Why? I don't know. Moving the mouse won't move him, nor will fiddling with the arrow keys. A quick keypress of Escape, however, and seemingly nothing happens. Lo and behold, however. . .you can move.
Now. . . If this is true, then the next obvious question would be what Lijitsu wrote. "Does it say: "Gameplay Pending" in the middle of the screen?" If so, that means there aren't enough players(one to each side) to start the game. You'll have to wait for more players to pop in. I've never experienced any other circumstance that would cause a "Gameplay Pending" message to appear, aside from an abundance of local lag, so as far as I know, it's always player-related.(Correct me if I'm wrong, gang.)
Further information will yeild further answers.
